Intensely itchy spots?bites? What are they?

I have a handful of really really itchy bites, I presume. Mostly on my torso. They've been there over a week, no idea what they are from. They are small but very very annoyingly itchy, what could have bitten me? Any suggestions for anti-itch stuff would be great too, they are driving me mad.

Do you have one larger patch somewhere? Maybe your arm? Is the rash in almost a Christmas tree formation? It looks a bit like pityriasis rosea. It's itchy as hell

Akite · 09/09/2022 10:58

no I wouldn't say any are Christmas tree shaped. I do have one in the crook of my elbow which is AWFUL, so itchy.

Flea bites?

Piriton liquid and Antishan cream will help.

Flea bites?

Sounds and looks like flea bites. Do you have pets or been in someone's house who has them?

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 09/09/2022 11:04

I’d say bites. Use tiger balm on them. And spray the house with raid.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/09/2022 11:34

Indorex is what you need for fleas, amazing stuff.

sleepymum50 · 09/09/2022 11:42

I used cold gel packs to get relief from the itching.

Akite · 09/09/2022 11:46

Pretty sure they are not flea bites, I've had flea bites many times and these seem different. Much much longer lasting and itchier and also don't have the raised surround that I get with flea bites. My cats are treated regularly and we haven't had any fleas for over a decade.
I already take a couple of antihistamines daily anyway so I think I'm probably on as much as I can have! Ice packs are a good idea to try. I'm sure I have tiger balm somewhere as well...

Bed bugs. Super itchy and hang around for ages. Some people don’t react to them at all. I’ve experienced the “delights” of these twice and both times once the only one who had this reaction. Lift up your mattress and take a look.

Happenchance · 09/09/2022 11:50

I would ask a pharmacist what they recommend. Most of them have consultation booths now.

CrispEater · 09/09/2022 12:12

Grass mites? Have you been in contact with grass, hay, straw etc.?

LuluBlakey1 · 09/09/2022 12:13

Your cats might be treated but is your house treated with something like Indorex?

5zeds · 09/09/2022 12:13

Chicken pox?

Handyweatherstation · 09/09/2022 12:17

Could they be ant bites? I work outside and every biting insect on the planet loves me. If I don't use repellent, I get bitten. By now I recognise the particular 'tone' of itch for just about every insect bite and ant bites are the worst and itch the longest. As PP said, Tiger Balm works well, though when the itching has been really bad I've used ice as well. Antihistamine cream works if you get to it early and After Bite helps too.

Skinterior · 09/09/2022 12:17

Could just be mosquitos. I've been bitten a lot in the last couple of days - south east England.

BagOfGin · 09/09/2022 12:17

I have the exact same thing! It started about 3 weeks ago and I've never had it before. First I thought it was an allergy, so I immediately stopped eating anything that I'm intolorant to (but I've never had a reaction like this anyway). Then I thought it might be fleas, but I spent 10 days in Spain with a relative who has no pets and the spots still kept coming (which would also rule out the bedbugs). Now I'm back in the UK and I still keep getting them. The kids got head lice while in Spain, but even if the lice have managed to get in my hair and bite my shoulders, they certainly won't be biting my stomach. I'm at a loss.

MamTDM · 09/09/2022 12:21

We've all had the same over the past week or so. We've Indorex-ed the entire house twice and flea-treated our dog, although he's not scratching and a thorough flea-combing has not turned up any flea dirt on him. The worst affected is our DS, who was bitten all over his back one night when he slept in just shorts with the window above his bed open (our dog rarely goes up to his loft room), so I suspect that it's some kind of mosquito/midge or other flying critter.

over50andfab · 09/09/2022 12:22

Have you tried asking a pharmacist OP? This should be first port of call for a diagnosis and correct treatment.

GetYourShitTogether · 09/09/2022 12:33

Apple cider vinegar
I react horrifically to bites, tried many things over the years, when people see them if they haven’t on me before they tell me to go to hospital as they are so bad.
just recently someone’s Gran told me to use it, I had some had nothing to lose, didn’t honestly expect it to work- it’s amazing !

Sorry you misunderstood the lesions/bites are not Christmas tree shaped when they proliferate the fan out across your torso the only thing that helps the itching is showering with the head and shoulders anti itch shampoo
It's a post viral response.
Have you been ill recently?

I had something very similar on my torso and it was shingles. Mine were all in a line which was apparently following a nerve from my spine

@BagOfGin just wondering why the bites continuing would indicate to you that it’s not bedbugs?
