You can pick ONLY one. I thought I knew... but today everything changed.

Toasted croissant
Smashed avocado on one side (NOT guacamole, plain smashed avocado)
Sharp white cheddar (lightly broiled) on the other

I'm out of croissants till Saturday, I don't know how I'll make it till then.

What's your desert island sandwich?

Chicken, bacon and avo
nice ham, soft white bread, proper butter
Grated cheese, soft white bread, proper butter

I don't like fancy sandwiches

Although I've just remembered a place near my office that's has unfortunately closed down - full roast dinner in a sandwich. It was a thing of beauty, about a foot high, and amazing hangover food.

I make one from wholemeal bread, bacon, sliced boiled egg, lettuce and mayo. Lush.

Aldi used to sell them but not anymore ?

Waitrose has them!

The best threat! That you OP @ZuzuSusu

Mine is salt beef/pastrami with black olive tapenade, cornichons, and a bit of soft goat cheese or ricotta or even Greek yogurt in a brioche bun or baguette.

Blueberrycreampie · 08/09/2022 13:38

Got to be cold rare roast beef with s & p and horseradish sauce, or with English mustard on a baguette.

Place near my work does a full English jacket potato. Tried it once and only once as it's impossible to actually eat it all and all I wanted afterwards was an afternoon nap. Not conducive to an afternoon of work 😂

2 slices white farmhouse loaf made into French toast, thick cut ham, cheddar and ketchup. Or salt & vinegar crisps and really thick butter

maddy68 · 08/09/2022 14:02

Chicken and avocado.
Or simple cheese and onion

mondaytosunday · 08/09/2022 14:09

BLT. Add avocado. A nice mayo snd toasted bread. Yum.
Second favourite would be Brie, apricot jam and bacon, in a squidgy white bread then microwaved to part melt the cheese. Omg I'm hungry now!

abovedecknotbelow · 08/09/2022 14:41

@FatAgainItsLettuceTime yes definitely, this was back in the day, we'd eat it, maybe have a nap in the contemplation room and then go back to the pub. Doesn't quite work like that anymore 😂

Not entirely altruistic @Frogium ... I've nabbed two of these recipes for my meal plan this week! I'll never say which!

Whole meal pita spread with good mayo, filled with hard-boiled egg and tomato.
Panini spread with good mayo, filled with smoked bacon and Brie, with home-made cranberry sauce spread between those two.
Toasted sourdough, covered in crushed avocado, then rocket, strong Cheddar, tomato.
Cheap white bread, lots of butter, chips, oodles of tomato sauce.

Salt beef bagel mmmmm
