How much does the tooth fairy leave these days?

Dd has her first wobbly tooth and I'm just wondering what the tooth fairy leaves?
I know it's up to me but I'm still interested to hear.

I left £4 for the first 1 then £2 each.

there’s a girl in my DD class that gets &10 - I think this is ridiculous’

PeonyRose80 · 06/09/2022 13:54

£2 first one and £1 after

pinkberet · 06/09/2022 13:54

We do a £2 coin

Petesbowtie9 · 06/09/2022 13:55

£5 for first . £2 thereafter , but no clue why I came to that decision !

User354354 · 06/09/2022 13:55

£1.

sunrain · 06/09/2022 13:59

We do £1. Also know 2 children who get £10 a tooth which is bonkers (and thoughtless) imo!

Popskipiekin · 06/09/2022 13:59

I tried to work out what DC would buy with the money and how many lost teeth it was reasonable to make them wait for before they had enough to get something. £5 buys something often very small but worth having from most toy shops, so we alighted on the strange value of £2.50 which is an absolute nightmare and wish we’d gone for £2 🤣

Louise0701 · 06/09/2022 14:02

We do £10.

Crumblierthanfeta · 06/09/2022 14:03

PeonyRose80 · 06/09/2022 13:54

£2 first one and £1 after

This

pixiecharm · 06/09/2022 14:05

I was thinking of £1 I think it's more about the magic of it to her.
I'm not even sure how much she understands the value of money so she'd be thrilled just to see she's been and left her something.

£2 first, £1 thereafter.

Make sure you have a stock of whatever coins you go for in the house, this money for old teeth thing goes on for years!

Mine sussed out who the tooth fairy was when between them they lost 5 teeth in two weeks and I said you can't lose any more I'm out of money! 🤦‍♀️

BaronessBomburst · 06/09/2022 14:08

€1, so 1GBP

nutellachurro · 06/09/2022 14:09

We do 50p!

But that's because I've saved loads of the nice themed ones over the years - with the sole intent of using them as tooth fairy coins Blush

DorotheaHomeAlone · 06/09/2022 14:14

£2 for the first and £1 after that. Apart from one time we totally forgot and could only scramble a €2 coin! Amazing how the tooth fairy knew we were going to Spain two weeks later. 😏

jingscrivvens · 06/09/2022 14:46

£2 coin.
I went on the largest coin available, I was sure that I used to get 50p then it went up to £1 for my brother when they started being around

minipie · 06/09/2022 14:49

PeonyRose80 · 06/09/2022 13:54

£2 first one and £1 after

Same

I know quite a few families that do £2 each time though. Which leads to awkward discussions with DC about why would the tooth fairy leave more for some kids.

SafariPark · 06/09/2022 15:04

@nutellachurro that's lovely 😍

emmathedilemma · 06/09/2022 15:05

£1

carefullycourageous · 06/09/2022 15:05

£1

Derbee · 06/09/2022 15:06

We’re not at that age yet, but I imagine doing £1 as anything else seems OTT

Goldmember · 06/09/2022 15:07

Usually £1

Goldmember · 06/09/2022 15:08

Although, I've just found a pile of teeth in DDs bedroom, she stopped telling us when she lost a tooth and the tooth fairy never visited. What do I say to that?

vera99 · 06/09/2022 15:12

6d for me (1965) which is 2.5p so using the inflation calculator is a princely 35p today - will they buy that?

carefullycourageous · 06/09/2022 15:15

£10 for a tooth is fucking weird. I can't understand why you would do that. I could afford it if I chose, but I can't understand why. It's supposed to be a little gesture, that's all.

DeathMetalMum · 06/09/2022 16:07

£2 for first tooth, 50p afterwards we tried giving special 50p's like Paddington or Peter rabbit, which dc liked.
