How much does the tooth fairy leave these days?

Dd has her first wobbly tooth and I'm just wondering what the tooth fairy leaves?
I know it's up to me but I'm still interested to hear.

£1 per tooth, also too young to understand value of it.
Some who have lost first tooth when older have received more because they know what they can/can't get with £1 but the excitement of it was enough for DD

mogtheexcellent · 06/09/2022 16:20

We did £2. fucking nightmare during lockdown where there was no cash spending. I have a stash in my office now just in case so whatever money you chooseI recommend you do the same.

Also remember for children who have lost more than a few teeth it can take the fairy a couple of days to collect as she visits the first tooth children first Wink.

50p in our house. Fairies don't do economics so inflation isn't a thing and they build their castles from silver, hence the need for the 50p....I get it's not silver but it's the right colour

abovedecknotbelow · 06/09/2022 17:02

Go VC as low as possible at first! 50p. Dts teeth all came out together and it cost us a bloody fortune, we went in with a fiver first. 🙄

nutellachurro · 06/09/2022 14:09

We do 50p!

But that's because I've saved loads of the nice themed ones over the years - with the sole intent of using them as tooth fairy coins Blush

The tooth fairy pays in silver in our house too. The cleaner the teeth, the more silver she leaves!

Ganymedemoon · 06/09/2022 17:05

I always forget!!

£10 for a tooth is fucking weird. I can't understand why you would do that. I could afford it if I chose, but I can't understand why. It's supposed to be a little gesture, that's all.

It's whatever the giver chooses it to be.

I give £5 a tooth. I got £1, 30 years ago! I only have one child and that's what I choose, and is the correct amount for me and my family.

That's so sweet 🥹 I wish I'd thought of that!

MissisBee · 06/09/2022 20:47

Hasn't been yet here, but it'll be £1 when she does. No inflation in 30 years in this family 😅

Well obviously it is what the gover chooses, the tooth fairy isn't real Grin

But I maintain giving a note is nuts.

I feel sure I have posted this exact same thing about five years ago. Maybe a sign I have been here too long.

Skyeheather · 06/09/2022 20:52

DS gets £2.00 per tooth but his cousin gets £5.00 per tooth, he has yet to ask why she gets more than him!

Louise0701 · 06/09/2022 20:57

@carefullycourageous it wasn’t so much a choice initially. Just the fact we rarely have cash on us so DH had to go to the cash machine the first time DD lost a tooth and it didn’t dispense £5 notes. It’s just a bit of a running joke between us now that when DD looses a tooth Dh has to nip to the cash machine.
It’s not hurting anyone and DD saved up her first 7 and bought a good Lego set with it so I don’t think it’s been a waste.

sarahc336 · 06/09/2022 20:57

We've been doing £2 per tooth xx

We have all had that scrabble but I am too tight to go for paper money Grin

I confess we used to sometimes forget or fall asleep after many many years, that felt like such a fail, I still feel bad.

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 06/09/2022 20:59

£5 first, £1 for all others

inappropriateraspberry · 06/09/2022 21:01

£1 for first, 50p thereafter. Maybe it's a bit tight, but they're happy with it!

Cherrysherbet · 06/09/2022 21:03

It’s always been £5 in our house 🧚‍♀️

TimeToGoUpAGear · 06/09/2022 21:05

£10 first, £5 thereafter. I got £1 40 years ago so this seemed reasonable!

Louise0701 · 06/09/2022 21:05

@carefullycourageous oh I can relate to that!! I was 3 days post section with DS2 when DD lost another tooth and I fell asleep and completely forgot. I had to think of a bloody poem for that one to explain it was hidden somewhere in the house and she could look for it after school. £10 was less painful than that tbh 😂

Nadal · 06/09/2022 21:07

It was always a fiver here. Basically because she doesn't have a coinage. EVER

One of the kids resorted to making a lot of massive signs and would put them all over the house including the toilet door which helped Grin

Will discuss this with my therapist as I only got 20p

Interestingly our comparative inflation rates are similar but clearly your family's wealth has flowed through the generations Grin

toodlesthen · 07/09/2022 07:41

@carefullycourageous and yet you informed us 'It's supposed to be a little gesture, that's all.' as if you'd received word from the fairy herself...

:)

Frlrlrubert · 07/09/2022 08:11

£1

£2 for top front as they are bigger/more special.

We work closely, I had to do a performance review to discuss why they kept not turning up Grin
