Parents of tall girls, when did they slow down growth wise?

Asking because surely she can't keep growing upwards at the same rate for much longer?!

DD is 7, 8 at the end of November and is over the 100th centile for height ( has been since about 2 ). She's 135cm, size 3 feet which are the same as mine and a good head above every other girl in her class. She's very slight though, I have to take her clothes in or buy slim fit. Is there a point she'll peak and growth will slow down?

Dd was referred to endocrinologist at 10 due to height, she towered above her class, but she was fine she only grew a couple of cms after the referral and is the same height as her pals now.

I started my periods in year 6 and stopped growing shortly afterwards. I felt enormous when I started secondary school. I am about 5 foot 2.

DD was the same. One of the tallest at Primary and in Y7 but then didn’t grow anymore while everyone else did. She’s 5ft 3 now
I was the same too but made it to 5ft 4

5 ft 8 size 8 feet aged 13 hope she has stopped growing! Looks about 16/7 and very glam which causes quite a few issues tbh…

I put my 3 year old to bed tonight wearing age 6-7 pyjamas and they looked fine on her length wise, just a bit baggy. She has a 6''2 Dad and I am 5'7 so I always suspected she would be on the tall side. I think people assume she is older than she is and I get a few "looks" about her (normal, 3 yr old) behaviour sometimes.

I was a really tall child. Looking back in my class photos I am at least a head over the majority of the kids in my class in reception/early primary. The doctor told my parents it was likely I’d be over 6’. I was on the tallish side until year 7 when I stopped growing and finished a whopping 5’4”.

My sister was opposite. She was teeny tiny through primary, one of the smallest in the class. Still tiny when she entered secondary but she kept growing until she was around 17 and is 5’11 and taller than both our parents.

I was just like that, I was 4 foot 6 when I was 8 and was always the tallest, was a tall toddler, and a tall child right until I hit the lofty height of 5 foot 3 when I was 10 and never grew again.

This is me, although I got to 5ft 4, when I was 11 & stopped!

I'm worried about how much money I'm spending on clothes and footwear over the next few years 😁

It's not a concern, just general intrigue. As a short woman who has always been short with only short women in the family, this is all new to me.

Girls usually stop growing around 14-15. Puberty around the ages of 12-13 are huge growth spurts IMO.
Not always but that’s usually how it goes so you have a lot of growth to go! My DD is 13 and 5ft 6” shoe size 6 (almost as tall as me now) but friends the same age are taller and some are 5ft 8 or 9

Ballsaque · 05/09/2022 00:28

dd is 14 and 5ft 10. I think her feet have stopped growing and her height is slowing down now I think?
we are both tall, but still weird that now I look up to her!

WoooahNelly · 05/09/2022 01:00

DD almost 10 is and has always been 99.98 centile. Think she is currently around 156cm but not measured for a couple of months. Hoping for her to be under 6ft, when fully grown (but think this will be unlikely given one side of family are all well over 6ft)

schoolissues1234 · 05/09/2022 01:03

I was five foot nine when I was 12, but then stopped growing!

Sunnytwobridges · 05/09/2022 02:30

My dd shot up to 5’7ish over the summer she was 13 and stopped there. She was one of the tallest in her class.

sweetsalted · 05/09/2022 03:36

how sad that you care. you can insist it’s all about shoe size/ worry about affording bigger clothes but it’s very clear that that’s not true. just calm down and let her grow to her natural height without mithering her

beeswa · 05/09/2022 07:37

My daughter is aged 10. 5ft 8 and size 7.5 shoes , wearing size 6/8 clothes because I need the length. She started her period in July .

She towers over her classmates . I'm hoping she slows down a bit now her period has started .

Catch21 · 05/09/2022 07:43

My 14yo DD is over 6 foot and weighs 8.5 stone. She's very good at netball!

Gherkingreen · 05/09/2022 08:01

I stopped growing at about 14, I was 179cm (just over 5ft 10) with size 6 (sometimes 5.5) feet, totally not in proportion to my height.
I didn't enjoy being so much taller than my friends at that age and found that some men would take it as a personally affront that a woman dared to be tall 🙄.
Both DSs are taller than me now and have been since 15/16, which is predictable but feels v weird! DH is shorter than me by a cm so he's the little one these days 😂

KittenKong · 05/09/2022 08:03

My own experience is - I was a year ahead in school and pretty short for my age anyway. I just kept growing until I was at uni - I was 5”4 when I left school - and ended up 5”7 (hey, that’s tall for a woman in Scotland!)
