I don't think there's another thread on this already I did a search, but I think this needs to be widely read - there seems to have been no lack of NHS resources here whatsoever, but consultants' arrogance by the spade; shades of This is Going to Hurt? Every parents' worst nightmare:

I hope they are able to bring that into law.

My goodness, what a harrowing and utterly heart breaking read.

Such a waste of a precious young life, so cruelly cut short purely due HCP refusal to listen to her parents’ concerns over their child’s deteriorating health.

How many times have we all blithely said on hearing that someone is in hospital for treatment, “oh they’re in the best place”.
Martha was in the best place, KCH is one of the top centres in the country for specialising in treating paediatric pancreatic trauma, and yet she died.
Not because they didn’t have the right equipment or resources but because the HCPs repeatedly failed to escalate her care due to what… pride? (we are the medics, we know best)… arrogance? (Don’t question our decisions, you’re just a parent).
Truly shocking, and my heart goes out to the family.

RIP Beautiful Martha 💐

I read the article a year ago and was horrified. Martha's mum writes so openly and heart breakingly about how a normal holiday family bike ride turned into a nightmare. A really tough read and it came across so eloquently how we're conditioned into accepting what the 'experts' tell us and how damn hard it is to question what we're told.

Martha's mum is inspirational. I so hope her mission to get this rule into law is successful. Whatever the outcome, I know her words are hugely empowering and will help parents to feel enabled to shout louder when they feel they aren't listened to.

Yip. Blind trust of doctors.

I was listening to her on Radio 4 this morning and I did come home and have a weep at the bravery of her and the senseless loss of life.
