If you were asked to participate in an ID parade would you?

In the afternoon today, when on a break from work I was out in the town centre and I was approached by two officers which took me a bit by surprise, who then told me or I fit the description of a woman who committed an incident recently in the town centre.
I was then asked if I would have any objections in taking part in an identity parade tomorrow.
Of course I have nothing to hide so I agreed to it though naturally, as have not been in that position before I do not know what to expect

Of course as a crime was committed and I would like to do my bit if I need to help

I would love to do it, from an helping out and interesting experience point of view. Obv if they picked me they wouldn’t think I’d actually done it 😀

Yes, I would definitely do it. Something interesting for a couple of hours? Yes. I'd be looking at the others, wondering who'd done it, though. And would be sure I had an alibi!

Is it an actual parade? I vaguely remember on a TV show they showed the victim various photos of people for them to pick from.
How will you do this and do you get paid?

That's what happened with my son a few months ago he had his phone stolen ,and the "ID parade" was actually looking at a series of photos.

I did jury service. It was all going OK until I got put on a case that I still think about occasionally to this day.

The lads at college used to do it for £20 a time. Seemed like a nice little earner really. I’d do my bit, yes.

Oh same. Paid travel and food expenses then also have at least 2 extra weeks fully paid off work

It wouldn't matter if they did, an ID parade is used to gather additional evidence, it wouldn't be used without the police having an idea that they did it, they use it to build a stronger case.

Even if they did pick you, it wouldn't be as though you would be arrested and charged

God no. I would never help the police.

Babyroobs · 26/08/2022 19:01

My dh used to do this regularly and get paid for it.

Why, are you a criminal? 🤔

DianaGarageDoors · 26/08/2022 19:10

I fear that seeing who they put me with might dent my self-image a bit “But these women are all ancient…oh”.

SquirrelFan · 26/08/2022 19:23

Has the OP been charged? Maybe it was a canny way of getting her down to the station to 'help them with their inquiry'.

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 29/08/2022 14:18

Where are you, OP? How did it go?
