New PM to stop energy increase??

Bear with me...

I've seen more and more Twitter threads (and TikToks) that are starting to think that the lack of any Tory MPs stepping out of line on the energy crisis is a sign that something might actually be planned for when the leadership contest is over. Going further than Truss with her tax cuts, and Sunak, but that they might actually freeze energy prices (stealing labour's proposals) after all.

At this point, I really don't know. They know that public opinion is rock bottom so they need something to get people back on side but is this too much to hope for?

Sorry ...Monday 5th. They all go back with the school children.

Of course the Tories wouldn't announce an intervention right now. The best political bang for their buck is that the new cap is announced on Friday and a huge media cycle begins with apocalyptic narratives to frighten the life out of the general public, Monday, new PM is announced. Tuesday Liz or Rishi rides in on a white horse with a plan and a cheque book and their rating rise is the polls undoing the bad press achieved over the leadership competition.

Calm is restored. Starmer yells,"Hey I thought of that first!" and Gordon Brown mutters, "No you fucking didn't".

😅😅

Yes, many apologies @StillGoingStrongToday when my focus is on the people who are being hit hardest. I find myself in a position where we can rejig our budget to hopefully not be too badly impacted by the price rises but I will always be on the side of people who need support. Could you tell me what you mean by "what are you doing to help people like me"? Genuinely curious, who are people like you?

Extra points for a white horse!

Why? Seriously, you are coming across as really not very nice, why should I ask anyone to help you? What are you doing to help people like me?
What help do you need?
I hate this government with a passion, as I’m all owe to do. But, as a government I’m also allowed to expect help where it’s needed.

carefullycourageous · 24/08/2022 16:31

Why would the government possibly care about someone who hates them?
Confused Because that is their fucking job (not that Johnson does much work, but still technically he is paid to care)

Pigs might fly (other than at Pink Floyd gigs).
