That’s amazing news! Well done. What changes did you make to manage this?

Toddlerteaplease · 23/08/2022 08:56

My friend did this as well. Unfortunately he put the weight back on and it came back.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/08/2022 09:42

Well done, dh did it too. He’s still treated as a diabetic though and has all the blood tests once a year and retinopathy scans.

Now he gets accused by relatives of never having diabetes because his blood sugars normal🤦🏻‍♀️ And theirs is high 🙄

My sister did this, she lost 5 stone and cut down on carbs loads.

waterlego · 23/08/2022 10:58

Wow, that’s fantastic! Well done.

QuirkyLirky · 23/08/2022 11:24

Congratulations. How did you do it?

ConnieSaks · 23/08/2022 11:29

My DH did too! He followed the Newcastle diet (professor Taylor) as well as the Mosley book. He had a low BMI so went very thin - but it worked and his GP surgery now advice it to all of their patients. Highly recommend as yes it works. And yes as per your user name absolutely no sugar at all (or crap carbs etc.).

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/08/2022 11:43

Congratulations!

Andromachehadabadday · 23/08/2022 11:44

Amazing! When do you post the link to whatever it is? 😂

BuenoSucia · 23/08/2022 11:44

Well done! I’d offer you a slice of celebratory cake but errrr… 😉

Vallmo47 · 23/08/2022 11:47

Amazing OP!!! I’m hoping I’ve done similar to my crappy levels but they won’t check again in a while as I was borderline. Should do it at home really.

Porridgeislife · 23/08/2022 11:51

Congratulations! Like everyone else, very keen to know how you’ve done it.

Mariposista · 23/08/2022 12:29

Gosh, MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS!!! Love reading stories like this, shows it can be done. Enjoy your healthy life and future!

Drivebye · 23/08/2022 12:34

Well done however I am amazed how many on this thread are asking how it was done. Do people not know what causes type 2 diabetes? It's been welll known for a while that reducing weight and cutting carbs reverses it. I do wonder if the problem is that people don't want to hear this because it confirms that their weight and diet are responsible.

FetchezLaVache · 23/08/2022 12:36

Well done, OP! I'm guessing your user name hints at your technique?

fortheloveofcheesecake · 23/08/2022 12:40

Congratulations! A great achievement! Just a gentle note to please make sure you continue to attend your diabetes related health screening appointments until advised not to. If only for the congratulations from staff when you tell them....we know how hard to it for patients to make that change!

This is a bit reductive. It's not just knowing what to do it's being able to do it that I think posters are interested in.

Trying to ignore snarky replies above.

I'm surprised they won't test you. I've put off my latest blood test for so long as I was sure I was back in the zone, which I know is the wrong thing to do. I think yiu can test privately at somewhere like Boots. Flowers

Thank you! That was the point of the thread. I was going to post on the diabetes board but a quick look showed it wasn't appropriate.

I wasn't that overweight, but I was overweight for me.

Me too.

My medical records were updated officially at my last check up to record me in remission for both diabetes and high blood pressure.

I was on a NHS programme for 2 years with dietician support. 800 calories a day liquid diet for 3 months, then gradually eased up to 1500 calories a day food diet over another 6 months. Plus daily exercise.

I had to fight to get on the programme initially but now I believe its being offered to everyone newly diagnosed (at least where I live).

This is a bit frustrating as the evidence has been out there for a decade/decades. NHS dieticians still bang on about the need for really quite a lot of cards.

I couldn't have done that. Well done!
