We've worked our way through the usual and now looking for some recommendations please.

Yep really something gripping and easy to get into

Didn't like Succession. Bank Robbers was boring. Done Ozark etc. don't like sci fi or vampires

Any suggestions gratefully received

I started 'Pieces of Her' last night and it was really good!

waltzingparrot · 22/08/2022 17:07

Wanted - it's Australian, gripping but comic moments

2022NewTimes · 22/08/2022 17:09

Parks and Recreations is really good - first season is a bit wobbly but future seasons are hysterical....

I've just watched the most hated man on the internet.

It's shocking!

KerryO87x · 22/08/2022 16:50

I also vote Schitts Creek loved it.
I've just finished virgin river which is a nice easy watch

Non Netflix- handmaids tale best series I've watched

@KerryO87x
Is Virgin River like the Hallmark Christmas movies? I watched the trailer and it struck me as similar. I do have a guilty pleasure in Hallmark Christmas movies but wonder if I could stomach a series of them?

UWhatNow · 22/08/2022 19:12

Schitts Creek was such genius and a real joy!

Superstore likewise.

Red Rose (cheesy horror) on BBC is gripping at the min.

It is totally Hallmark but strangely watchable.

Parks and Rec has been taken off Netflix - we were part way through s3, beyond annoyed Angry

If anyone can figure out where it is now please let me know! I thought it was going to Peacock but it's not there yet...

Narcos

Gooseysgirl · 22/08/2022 19:26

I loved Mrs Maisel on Amazon Prime, light, fluffy and at times extremely funny! Also really enjoyed The Morning Show on Apple.

theDudesmummy · 22/08/2022 19:26

Lupin is brilliant. Watch with subtitles not dubbed version.

Schitts Creek is wonderful. I felt bereft when I finished it.

ParsleyPesto · 22/08/2022 19:26

It’s such a personal thing, isn’t it.

I see Schitts Creek recommended a lot but I can’t sit though one episode.

Really enjoyed

Maid (it’s a memoir, superb screen adaptation)
Unbelievable, another true story. Disturbing, utterly brilliant acting by Kaitlyn Drever.
The Girl in the Picture - extraordinary and devastating story, brilliantly executed. Dark content.
Pieces of Her - far fetched but I loved it. Toni Collette is outstanding.
I just shot my dad - same documentary maker as Girl in the Picture. Layers of careful investigation. Tragic content.
Virgin River - soap-style escapism. Stunning location. Loved it!

I agree the first series of The Handmaid's Tale was the best thing I've ever watched but unfortunately has gradually lost the plot.

I'm currently watc

Crinkle77 · 22/08/2022 19:44

Damn posted too soon. Currently watching Hart of Dixie on ITV hub. Complete trash but loving it.

Ilovehatecleaning · 22/08/2022 20:11

@Crinkle77 Just came on to say the same thing. Absolutely love Hart of Dixie. This has been my summer watch.
This was thanks to a mumsnetter who recommended it.
Love all the characters

naomi81 · 22/08/2022 20:14

Watching uncouple atm , it's funny and easy to watch

ReadtheReviews · 22/08/2022 20:15

Enjoyed Keep Breathing although her parents were clichés.

SamBeckettslastleap · 22/08/2022 20:15

Late to the party but I really enjoyed S1 of Stranger things and quite enjoyed all the others.

Agree Toni Collett is great in pieces of her but it's a bit netflixey.

Woodstock 99, was disturbing but I couldn't stop watching.

Bladed · 22/08/2022 20:16

Trainwreck was good - three piece documentary about Woodstock 99.

BeanieTeen · 22/08/2022 20:18

Inventing Anna was the latest good thing I watched on Netflix. Based on a true story, it was quite unbelievable.

AgnestaVipers · 22/08/2022 20:19

TheBatwoman · 22/08/2022 16:54

Also really enjoyed The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window - great dark comedy. Inventing Anna was a good watch as well.

We found that very funny.

I'd also recommend Russian Doll.

CynsterBitch · 22/08/2022 20:22

If you have Apple Ted Lasso was surprisingly good. And not a series but we watched Thirteen Lives on Prime on the weekend and it was amazing.
