Where do you buy good quality furniture?

I'm looking for new bedroom furniture: dressing table, bedside tables and chests of drawers. Ordered something from Wayfair and not only was it abysmal quality half the pieces were missing so having spent my Friday evening screwing hundreds of screws into poor quality mdf I then had to chuck it all back in the box and sort it out to be returned for a refund. I'm fed up of cheap substandard stuff.

Where can I buy good quality solid wood furniture? I'm looking for white so a lot of the e.g. Oak furniture places don't work.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Prefer ready assembled but happy to put something together myself if it is good quality and not mdf that falls apart as soon as you screw something in.

Try auctions, local Facebay, Ebay etc. Also big charity shops like British Heart Foundation. I would check drawers etc run properly. Remember you can paint it. I wouldn't buy new because like jewellery and cars it can be up to 10x the price of second hand. And you're helping the environment!

Made.com
Ikea

Local independent furniture shops, auctions, charity shops. My daughter’s beautiful dressing table was £30 in a charity shop. I painted it and it’s beautiful and timeless.

There's a company set up to supply brits in France. www.furnitureforfrance.co.uk that do solid wood. Some natural oak, some white.

Cotswold company furniture is lovely , can be a bit pricy but well worth it .

I have various bits from Toulouse range at dug elm but the last chest of drawers I got just aren’t as good as previous ones. The good thing is it’s already assembled.

Ive just bought a large wardrobe for next and paid extra for it to be built, amazing quality and it’s huge (Cameron range).

i have a sideboard and kitchen table from Wilko which are solid too.

Another one for marks and Spencer’s and assembly at home is included.

I have some bedroom furniture from Loaf for my spare room - it's really good quality. Very solid. I think John Lewis is pretty good too as long as you avoid the fake wood stuff. But I do think you can get similar quality from second hand shops/auctions/ebay for much less money.

I'd shop at Heals, Conran Shop and Skandium if I had enough money.

That's a VERY EXPENSIVE site there, @ModernWay . Not at all what this thread is about. If you want to advertise your wares, talk to MHHQ. Don't stealth.

Always a local shop for great stuff. Ikea is ok for a few years but i prefer solid stuff
