Fed up with the hot weather

I don’t mean to be a spoilsport but I really am getting fed up with these temperatures, I say that as though there is a thermostat somewhere that I can just go and turn down the temperature on - I wish!

I love a bit of sun and good weather and of course a bit of warmth, but there is nothing to enjoy about being constantly hot, stinking and sweaty.

anyone else? Hurry up winter!

Move to Scotland. Sorted.

Greensleeves · 10/08/2022 14:44

Agreed. I feel quite unwell in this weather, exhausted and nauseous no matter how much iced water I drink. I'm perimenopausal as well so the hot weather comes with constant all-over itching, foul-smelling perspiration (even half an hour after showering) and sleepless nights with drenching night sweats. I'm working in the garden under a big parasol because the breeze makes it marginally more tolerable than stifling in the house, but it's still horrible. I'm SO ready for lovely crisp, clean autumn days where I can wear comfortable clothes without them sticking to me.

HauntingScream · 10/08/2022 14:47

I'd like for it to cool down a bit to 22c, maybe rain for day but to hang on til school starts please.

alloalloallo · 10/08/2022 14:51

I do actually love the hot weather, but I’m desperate for a good old rain.

It’s so dry here, my lawn is a dead as a dead thing, and my horses’ field is bare. My arthritic mare is struggling to much on the hard ground, it’s breaking my heart, but as soon as it rains and the ground softens up she’ll be back to being an utter knob again.

curiousitygotthebetterofme · 10/08/2022 15:01

Not to mention, I’m am soon going to run out of clothes to wear if I keep having to put my clothes in the wash as they’re drenched in sweat!

Also in Scotland, we've only had a few nice hot days all summer. Move here if you like greyness and drizzle, we have it in spades!

Toddlerteaplease · 10/08/2022 15:08

Agreed. 18-20 is fine for me. My MS is beginning to flare up because of it.

Happylittlethoughts · 10/08/2022 15:09

24° in my bit of Scotland today ..try further North

etulosba · 10/08/2022 15:10

I’m still enjoying it, despite working outside.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 10/08/2022 15:13

This is the first spell of actual hot weather here (NI) and I'm loving it!

Lifeisrelentless · 10/08/2022 15:13

Yep, I’m so sick of it, constantly sticky and uncomfortable. Constantly willing it to be autumn- cool crisp days. It’s a lot easier to get warm than it is to cool down!

MyHeartSings · 10/08/2022 15:32

Yeah I hate it. Once it gets hotter than 22 I can’t be bothered with it. Hate being hot and sweaty and it makes the kids so grumpy. Luckily I’m in the NW and it has been pretty miserable apart from the two heat waves.

Bringon2023 · 10/08/2022 15:32

Agreed. I can't wait for a cold evening where I can curl up on the sofa under a blanket watching a film with some candles listening to the rain outside!

It really does make me irritable - feel a tad grumpy myself!

I think we get long-enough days/weeks/months of chilly/cold/freezing/damp/soaking/breezy/windy weather and a few weeks of actual summer in the summer months is bloody lovely!

Comedycook · 10/08/2022 15:38

On the plus side my laundry is drying so quickly

I agree but it’s just the intensity of the heat that is the killer for me!

Yes, I suppose every cloud has a silver lining! Not that there are any clouds in the sky at the moment..

Agreed - we went out early to the Northumberland coast today and the highest it got was about 22 and windy and it was amazing. Just got back out the car at home to 30 and humid. Urgh.

TheRookie · 10/08/2022 15:49

27' in the north east of Scotland today! We have lovely weather where I am. Warm, dry summers and rarely snow in the winter as we are coastal. Although the winters are bitterly cold and windy.

Bloodybridget · 10/08/2022 15:56

I can't stand being outside for long when it's this hot (am in London) and as we have decorators in ATM it's not exactly peaceful being at home. And the drought and risk of fires really worries me. But as someone said upthread, getting laundry dry so quickly is great!

etulosba · 10/08/2022 16:01

I don’t think it is that warm. If you call this intense, how would you rate 50 degrees?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 10/08/2022 16:28

I agree OP 31 here at the moment and it's literally draining the life out of me Feel nauseous in the heat
I have a disability which means my joints are sore and my muscles get tighter in extremes of heat
I'm doing the absolute minimum as I fell over yesterdayBlush

Magnolia08 · 10/08/2022 16:40

Yep same here, I'm fantasising about autumn. It's unbearable in the south east, wish it would just piss off now tbh

SapphireSeptember · 10/08/2022 17:02

I just want it to rain! It's supposed to rain next week, but it's been forecast a bunch of times already and it hasn't. Everything just feels so dry and dusty.
