If you love or despise sweet and sour, how do you feel about salted caramel?

Just that really.

Weird question I know, but it was a 2am thought

If you love or hate sweet and sour flavour, does that feeling match your thoughts on salted caramel?

I hate both, my cousin loves both. We were wondering if there is a correlation.

Hate sweet & sour (and pineapple on pizzas, gammon etc.).
Love salted caramel.

Love sweet and sour. Raisins in curry and pineapple on ham or pizza - nope
Have come around to apricot in tagine though.

Maybe there could be a scale for salted caramel products, like the dryness scale for white wine. So not salty /normal caramel could be a one and very salty a five. Then all the people who hate salted and want normal caramel (me) would know when products labelled salted caramel are actually just caramel, and the people who want the salt would be disappointed less often.

Like both. Not in a would-rave-about way, just a 'this tastes pleasant' way.

Sour isn't really the same as salty and sweet IMO

I don't overly like sweet and sour (eg chicken), but do like things like pineapple chicken or mango chicken.

Salted caramel is fine but not my favourite thing. I absolutely love chocolate and salt together though (eg chocolate covered pretzels).

I don't think there's much correlation tbh.

I'm obsessed with any combination of sweet and savoury, and I love salted caramel, but agree it's rarely salty enough.

I actually sprinkle salt onto cakes too - just remembered I do this! I use salted butter when I make butter icing and if I get a cake where they haven’t done that I will salt it myself.

I love both but my DD hates sweet and sour and loves salted caramel. DH and DS like both but they like everything so I don't know if that helps.

Dislike sweet and sour (sultanas in curry and pineapple on pizza etc), and dislike salted caramel for same reason

Abra1d1 · 10/08/2022 16:58

Sour isn’t the same as salty.

I see the current vogue for salted sweet things as manipulative.

The salt cuts the sweet taste and delays satiation. You eat more salted sweet stuff than sweet stuff on its own.

It's a sales drive.

I remember when you just got caramel/fudge/chocolate, not salted everything.

The only salted sweet thing I like is a margarita 😏
