Can you tell ne very roughly

  • how many hours over day are showing as active vs stationary

  • how much of the time do you spend in the ‘fat burn’ zone (for me it’s anything above 85bpm - nit sure if it’s the same for everyone)

Im much great health wise and I’m trying to see and far from the ‘norm’ I am iyswim.

Your Fitbit will tell you all of this .. it will show your active hours and how many of them you managed more than 250 steps per hour

Your active minutes are on the "Today"screen and if you have Premium you can compare what you do and what is the general population goals

I love mine but don't think it's 100% accurate and watch out for the scammers ... millions of them, like vermin

MineIsBetterThanYours · 08/08/2022 18:40

I don’t have Premium….. so no idea where the general population falls.

Hence my question too btw.

I agree it’s not 100% accurate.

Too many times when I got up having already made 150 steps for example.

TitInATrance · 08/08/2022 18:52

Very roughly average 15000 steps per day, target for ‘fat burn’ is supposed to be 150 minutes week, I usually hit 600 or 750/week. Active hours usually around 6 but anywhere from 4 to 9 (of 9). Fitbit doesn’t know I swim 4 times a week as I take it off.

Bubbles2022 · 08/08/2022 18:58

I average about 13-15k steps a day.

Usually get 9 hours out of 9 active hours.

Between 3-400 zone minutes.

Fat burn for me is 112bpm.

MineIsBetterThanYours · 08/08/2022 18:58

Thanks @TitInATrance
Thats very helpful.

Im spending most of my day in fat burn zone…. despite the fact I’m sat down most if the day (around 2 hours max of activity today). No wonder I’m exhausted!

I’ve attached my stats from today so far. I don't enter the fat burn zone until my heart rate is 110bpm (used to be 117bpm but I’m 11 weeks postpartum and it's changed - not sure whether the Fitbit thinks I’m more or less fit than I was before!).

Have you accidentally entered manual figures for the zones?

HairyKitty · 08/08/2022 19:42

As the start of your fat burn zone is pretty low. Mines approx 100bpm, resting hr approx 55-60bpm

MineIsBetterThanYours · 08/08/2022 19:46

Nope. I would have no idea how to do that!
My resting heart rate is high (75~80bpm) too.

But as I said, I’m not well so I’m trying to see how it impacts on things.

Have you got any Fitbit data from before being unwell? Otherwise it’s a little hard to judge as there are many factors. Which areas of data is it you are thinking maybe affected by your health?

Daisychainsandglitter · 08/08/2022 20:12

I average 15-17,000 steps per day.
I've been active 5 of 9 hours today.
I've done 35 mins cardio and 1hr 18 mins fat burn. Like a previous poster I usually do about 700 mins of zone minutes a week.
I have a pretty sedentary job so get up early and do a 45 mins brisk walk before work and walk for an hour on my lunch break.

lljkk · 08/08/2022 20:14

how do you guys know what lower heart rate threshold is the 'fat burn zone' ?

Pretty sure it's a low number for me because I'm age mid 50s

SummerSazz · 08/08/2022 20:21

Mine goes into fat burn fairly low too. Then cardio over 110. I'm 49 and fairly fit and normal BMI

SummerSazz · 08/08/2022 20:22

9 out of 9 hours for me today

Not really no.

Ive been unwell for more than 10 years and bought the Fitbit to try and pace myself, see how much I could and couldn’t do etc….
Some of those numbers are just very surprising. Eg spending 10~12 hours a day in fat burning zone.

id love to know how that limit is calculated tbh.

OP posts:
MineIsBetterThanYours · 08/08/2022 21:13

Actually I found the answer.
The limit is based on a % if your higher heart rate, which is dependent in your age (220-age) so the older you get, the lower the limit for the fat burning zone.

Im 52 so that makes sense for it to be low.

Does anyone know what is the population average for the time active in the day?

OP posts:
HairyKitty · 08/08/2022 22:08

I am same age as you and mines about 100 but yours is showing as about 85, this seems too low to me?
if you are using for pacing consider active minutes (ie fat burning zone), steps and flights of stairs

HairyKitty · 08/08/2022 22:10

If you click on your photo icon, then activity and wellness then heart settings, what’s it say in there?

Fitbit users
lljkk · 08/08/2022 22:30

I think you have poor heart rate recovery, OP.

Which is another way of saying you're unwell, hence the high resting heart rate.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/08/2022 22:41

I’ve got eight of nine active hours today, 84 zone minutes, 16,600 steps, and go into “fat burn” at 103bpm. My RHR is about 58 generally. I’m 49 and upper end of healthy BMI, but cardio fitness apparently between “very good and excellent”.

spanishsummers · 08/08/2022 22:55

Mine goes into fat burn at 103. If I walk half an hour on the flat it doesn't register any active minutes, even at reasonable speed.

HairyKitty · 09/08/2022 16:31

Recommended active minutes per week for health is 150 mins, which sounds v low to me but that’s what it is. Activity that raises hr into fat burn mode for 2.5 hours spread over the week.
