Can you tell ne very roughly

  • how many hours over day are showing as active vs stationary

  • how much of the time do you spend in the ‘fat burn’ zone (for me it’s anything above 85bpm - nit sure if it’s the same for everyone)

Im much great health wise and I’m trying to see and far from the ‘norm’ I am iyswim.

Hey op, if you are still there I now know exactly why your fat burn zone is too low as I’ve just yesterday had the same issue with mine. Post again if you are interested to know more

If you check out this link you can see older fitbits use a different calc which no one in the industry uses now, which gave me a ridiculous fat burn zone of about 80bpm. The newer ones use the one I see all over the internet which gives me a more realistic 100bpm.
help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1565.htm
scroll down to how to calculate hr zones, the charge 4 one is the new calc
None of the calculation is personalised ie it never relates to your actual fitness level, but a fitter person is less likely to enter fat burn in ordinary activity as their heart is stronger so hr doesn’t rise so easily.

HairyKitty · 15/08/2022 19:25

If your Fitbit is using the old method with the lower zones you can force override it a bit by entering your own (higher) hr max in the heart rate custom zones part of the app.

Thanks @HairyKitty mine is a charge 3 so can see where it gets the 85 from (50% of 170 max) whereas it would be about 118 on the new calc. Can't change the fat burning zone though, only the limits for the upper 2. Ah well.

HairyKitty · 15/08/2022 20:13

If you make your hrmax be 200 or more it should change your fat burn zone. It’s not quite right but a lot better than it claiming fat burn as soon as you think about standing up!
