URGENT HELP

My youngest daughter has been locked out of the flat she shares with her boyfriend. They have had issues with their relationship. The flat is his but her belongings are there and also her furniture. She cannot get in to get clothes for work and cannot get any time off. Her rabbits are locked into the garden too and she cannot reach them - and even if she could there is nowhere to take them. We live over 100 miles away and have no means of getting there. He won't answer calls and is not in. Any advice please?

What area of the country? I'm in Yorkshire if I'm able to help

Chakraleaf · 08/08/2022 21:07

Hope you hear soon.

If he's broken the key in the lock a locksmith will be needed. The one time I called the locksmith, he said he asks what's on top of the fridge or similar to ensure the person actually lives there.

I must say I'm a bit confused at you asking for urgent help you doing nothing to help your daughter who now cannot get into her home and can out contact anyone by phone. Surely the help you urgently needed was to get her safe?

I think you or someone might need to go and find her. Does she have a car to get to a hotel? Or is she say outside the flat waiting for world war 3 when he gets home?

Did the key break off in an argument? Are they in the middle of a row or is he AWOL because he's unwell, coked up or just otherwise engaged?

RSPC re the rabbits?

IrisVersicolor · 08/08/2022 22:52

This is domestic abuse as a pp said and she needs to notify her workplace.

If she’s contacting the police to get in she may as well collect up all her stuff. Sometimes they will “attend” to “prevent a breach of the peace”.

Does she have any friends she could stay with? Where is she now?

gotagooddeal · 09/08/2022 01:10

@Bjarnum - Hi OP, did you manage to get in touch with your daughter?

Her brother has his phone switched off and works in various different locations when he picked up his messages he went to the flat and found her - she managed to contact some bailiff friends who got her in and they spoke to her DP when he finally pitched up.
I didn't have a car, I couldn't rent one, I live in the middle of nowhere with no public transport, I didn't know where she was but it seems likely she would go to a friend's house. How the hell was I going to get her? If you read the thread you would see that many pps suggested the police 101 which I contacted. The flat was in darkness when they went there. I posted because it is not easy to think straight when in a panic and the advice I got was helpful - apart from you of course.

Any update op?

LINABE · 12/08/2022 17:12

Hope things work out for your daughter. The Rabbits need to be collected asap especially in this heat if they are outside poor things.

Kerrrmieee · 12/08/2022 17:19

I hope things work out for your daughter.
I'm assuming her bailiff friends didn't break in.

I know it's too late now, but police will often assist in the removing of belongings if there is a perceived threat to either party.

I see this was a few days ago now.

Hope all okay. And bunnies are okay.
