For context...
2 stone overweight
Tired. So bloody tired.(some medical issues too)
House is clean but so cluttered. Stuff
"Life admin " very behind with this
Personal - split ends, grey hairs, if I'm honest, just keeping on top of personal hygiene.
Go to bed too late
Once DC are in bed, i do mostly nothing.

I hope work will be more bearable in the cooler weather this week. Keep it up, you've made a really good start.

How are things this week @Bemyclementine ?

OP for sorting home chaos, a book called sink reflections by the fly lady really helped me rethink managing my home and life chaos and start decluttering. Very easy to get going with in baby steps and there's support threads on Mumsnet too.

It might sound trite, but I find I can motivate myself to get on with housework or decluttering if I listen to upbeat music, I treat it like a workout which ticks the exercise box somewhat, all the better if I feel hot and sweaty at the end! Kill two birds with one stone
Absolutely meditation to calm your mind, especially before sleep. FORCE yourself to have just one early night a week to start, view it as a gift to yourself, and gradually you will not see it as a wasted evening to have an early night. Replace the doing nothing, with gaining energy and recharging. Even if you lie in bed and meditate before you try and sleep, it is restful
Don't beat yourself up if you slip up on the changes, just keep trying

And for iron that doesn't upset stomach, hema Plex is good. I read about it on here and have no side effects from taking it

Loads of good suggestions on here.
You mention menopause. Have you thought of having a chat with your doctor about HRT? Unbalanced hormones can affect mood and sleep so much.
I know you have a lot going on with medication, but it might be worth considering.
Best of luck with it all, I hope the small changes help.

@Katyaadlerscoat not too bad, thank you so much for asking! , I'm doing well with the small changes I've made so far. I am consistently going to bed earlier - not eay mind you but but much better than I was, abd am able to get up earlier feeling better. I have not been sleeping well though with a couple of hours awake most nights. Still , I do feel better.

Medication us also going well. I have a blood test tomorrow abd will see what my iron is doing.

The house is still going in fits abd starts, adit my food, but I think both those things will be easier to deal with once the children are back at school.

Try not to worry about what isn't moving forward yet. Be proud of what you ARE doing.

Bemyclementine · 26/08/2022 12:31

Thank you, uts something I've found before, I can't focus on too many things at once. I'm hoping to ingrained the "small" stuff, and hopefully it will make me feel better (meds, sleep, hygiene!) And then make a good start on the other stuff.

I have a bag behind my lounge door and everytime I come across something we dont need/wear/play with then it goes in the bag for the charity shop or to be sold. I did a massive declutter before we moved house and this has really helped me keep on top of it. I regularly hide toys they dont play with, and if they dont mention them for a month then they're gone. Life admin I try to offload as much on to my husband as I can. Try to share it out as much as possible. Get the kids on chore charts to help out and earn their pocket money. My biggest problem is lack of exercise and binge eating but I've been reading about intermittant fasting and want to start that after xmas and be more active so Im going to start with a walk or yoga video in my lunch break. Tackle one thing at a time.
