It’s usually would you rather be able to fly or hop really high

would you rather be Batman or Spider-Man

I’m really stressed as i don’t know what ice cream to pick 😏

back to what is this path made of ?
whats tarmac ?
can we exist on earth if the moon didn’t exist
( how the hell would I know !)

this thread has made me giggle. So relatable,

in Minecraft….
in Roblox….
in Star Wars….
followed by 5 minute non stop rambles.

and the random scenario questions….
would you choose to be imperials or rebels.
would you chose clone trooper or storm trooper
If you had to be a shark, would you be a hammer head or a tiger shark
would you use an ATST or anATAT
__
who is your favourite Pokémon, daily

and when I do offer any answers to his questions, he then usually says “thats so suss”

dontyoubother · 05/08/2022 23:08

I love the random questions. Except when I'm driving somewhere new and concentrating only to hear "muuuuuuum... you know clouds, well...". Anything Minecraft, Pokémon, whatever I just nod, smile and remind myself that if she tells me this shit now she might still tell me about the stuff that matters to her when she's a teenager.

MakkaPakkas · 05/08/2022 23:11

This is a lot more interesting than my FIL is able to manage and he's 72 so I think maybe... never?
Tbh I miss some of this sort of conversation DS (14) simply educates me on stuff he learned on YouTube now.

FreezyFreezy · 05/08/2022 23:27

My 11 year old goes on and on and on and on about Roblox, Minecraft, the Sims and a whole range of mad scenarios. And the plans he makes. My 10 year old also prattles on but it is more interesting - tells us things that are going on with friends etc. It's slightly more bearable.

bippityboppity87 · 05/08/2022 23:31

My DS 6 is extremely blunt and can he quite ruthless in his responses. Example, bought a new top, asked him what he thought and did the "hmm..urrrmm" Asked what was wrong with it "mummy..you look fat in that top" Thought ok, a bit brutal, but waters off a duck's back and move on. Went to walk away and this little voice pipes up "and your bum's big too" Ok! Jesus Christ, what's with the accusations. No filter. He is being assessed for ASD, so not sure if that has anything to do with it

MoiraRoseRules · 05/08/2022 23:33

@Sandysandwich your recount of those conversations had me dying with laughter & thinking, thank god, not just me…!!!

Daisychainsandglitter · 06/08/2022 05:04

My DD is 8 later this month and what you describe seems very familiar!

Whiskeypowers · 06/08/2022 05:12

beeswa · 05/08/2022 13:56

My son asked me the other day while I was driving what my second favourite road sign was .

🤣

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 06/08/2022 05:30

My 17 and 15 year olds still like "would you rather" although it's things like "would you rather have legs the length of your fingers, or fingers the length of your legs?"
And "would you rather have teeth for pubes or pubes for teeth?"

They also spend what feels like hours debating if water is wet. (When they were small they spent an entire morning arguing if God or the Queen was more important)

These are interesting! Google it and find out. The others not so much. I can't stand those who would win in a fight out of a bear or a shark (endless combinations) ones or ranking superheroes. Who the fuck cares. And the Minecraft and Pokémon obsession, snore. The problem is the ranking/imaginary fight questions seem to fascinate adult men going by Reddit and Russell Howard (who I otherwise enjoy).

What kind of conversations do you want to have? My son is 13 now.

Lovelystuff · 06/08/2022 05:41

I’ve got all this to come! My DD (3) has just started asking ‘why’ for absolutely everything and tbh it’s made me think I don’t actually know that much. She also says ‘tell me about (insert what we were talking about)’ - i don’t know enough about hands to talk about them for 5 minutes!!

hels71 · 06/08/2022 08:44

When my DD was younger, she once asked,
If we had 3 legs where would we wee from?

Princessoftheuniverse · 06/08/2022 10:17

I’m really stressed as i don’t know what ice cream to pick 😏

That seems reasonable to me. 😂

Whiskeypowers · 06/08/2022 11:46

My eight year old son woke up this morning and put a series of grim dilemmas to me involving who or what I’d chose to throw into a pit of lava

followed by an alarmingly length discourse about why freight trains would be pulling a steam engine engine

then what human food Baby Yoda wanted from sainsburys when we go later

IDontHaveTimeForFoolishness · 06/08/2022 11:53

Oh thank the heavens! I thought it was just mine that did this- I began to think there was an issue🤣

TheYearOfSmallThings · 06/08/2022 12:00

I am also just relieved that i am not suffering alone.

i do love him dearly though !

I loved this stage with my ds, so cute and I actually found our chats really interesting and fun. I also loved the role and pretend play being various different characters. Ds could talk really early and hold a conversation by the age of 2! He's almost 17 now and still great company. We still have lots of interesting chat about all sorts of stuff albeit more adult nowadays! Love him to bits.

No-one has mentioned minecraft, fortnite or youtubers yet! Despite being told an awful lot about minecraft over the course of several years I still understand very little about it.

This is me but it's Fortnite...

Who knew there could be so much to say about 'skins'?!

I do love my DS though, he is so sweet and thoughtful, but he sure can ramble on when the urge takes him on the hour usually

mrsDracoMalfoy · 06/08/2022 12:22

20 minute conversations on Minecraft every morning.
20 minutes is the walk to school

Feels longer every morning.

School holidays and Minecraft begins the minute he's up.

Thank goodness for working hours. Lol

PortMac · 06/08/2022 12:45

Hahaha kids are awesome.
My 10 year old, "mum is it just me or........
Is Turkish delight the best chocolate?
Who's your top ten marvel characters?
Do you think Chris Evans or Chris Hemsworth is stronger?
When do you think I'll be allowed to drive a formula 1 car?

Gufo · 06/08/2022 12:58

Do bullet trains exist?
Why do they look like a nose?
Are they faster than french trains?

onmywayamarillo · 06/08/2022 12:59

I love the road signs one! My son 8 where having that exact same conversation yesterday 😀

clpsmum · 06/08/2022 13:08

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it doesn't stop at 8 🤦‍♀️🙉

MouseShoes · 06/08/2022 13:08

Just googled trophallaxis. Yuck!!

illiterato · 06/08/2022 13:10

Who knew there could be so much to say about 'skins'?!

Also, why do they only care what they look like in Fortnite? He doesn't give a shit what he looks like walking down the street in actual real life.

I'm just happy the Amazon/Jeff Bezos stage is over - where does Jeff live? Is it a mansion? Does anyone in the world have a bigger house than him? Why? Why doesn't he get the biggest if he's the richest? Does he have any pets? Do you think he walks it himself or would he have a dog walker? Does the dog walker live at the mansion or somewhere else? FML.
