King Size or Super King Size Bed?

Trying to decide what size bed to get in our master bedroom in our new house.
Bedroom has built in wardrobes, so all that we'll need in the room is bed, bedside tables and maybe a vanity table.

Bedroom is an odd shape, but where the bed will go, the room is around 13foot wide and 10 foot deep.

Currently we have a king size bed. We are getting rid of our old bed as it's old and rubbish. We currently only have some cheap sheets on there, and the duvet and pillows could be used on the double guest bed.

Any advice?

ours is superking - love it for the size but miss snuggling up to DH and cuddling up/DTD. The bed is sooo big that we can be at opposite sides and not even touch!

Do super kings really get in the way of DTD that much!?

Go as big as you possibly can, spend as much as you can afford on the best quality mattress. You can’t put a price on a good night’s sleep. If you have to compromise on budget, do it on the bed linen. Basic sheets & duvet covers may not look like something out of a magazine but, unlike a cheap mattress, they won’t give you a bad back.

Superking (6ft) is great for co-sleeping and then when your toddlers have grown up, great for having 3ft each to spread out in! Lots of bedding choice nowadays although it is still more expensive because more material is involved.

Superking every time. I miss my old one, I've got king now because I moved and the bigger bed wont fit. Wish I'd known that before I moved.

Sheets are no longer rare or expensive particularly.
But if you struggle somehow to get a super king quilt, try two doubles or two kings. Game changer if one of you is hot, the other cold.
Absolutely hell to change the bedding, it's a work out.

Super king. I’d never go back. Zero issues getting linen. Don’t use super king pillows.

Definitely super king. I was absolutely against it and didn't think we needed a bed that big but in the end DH won and I have never looked back! It's amazing

Ok so I’ve bought a super king size bed over a king size one on the basis of this thread. It’s not here yet but I’ve bought and washed the bedding. It is SO hard to hang up the flat sheet and duvet! It’s taller than me and my arms. I got dirt on it, washed that out, then asked DH to help and we ended up squabbling over the washing line. Any tips? I bought the flat sheet so we’d need to wash the duvet less often but it is just as annoying. Though I appreciate it’ll dry much quicker in the winter. I hung it folded in half on the line, should I fold it again so it’s shorter?

I got all my bedding 100% cotton reduced from Pondens online, didn’t seem much more expensive

It's definitely a team job to re-make the bed!

I manage to hang mine but I do have a large rotary line. I peg all four corners, two to a line, so it hangs down in a u shape, rather than over the line, if that makes sense?
