King Size or Super King Size Bed?

georgiekinge · 02/08/2022 18:43

Trying to decide what size bed to get in our master bedroom in our new house.
Bedroom has built in wardrobes, so all that we'll need in the room is bed, bedside tables and maybe a vanity table.

Bedroom is an odd shape, but where the bed will go, the room is around 13foot wide and 10 foot deep.

Currently we have a king size bed. We are getting rid of our old bed as it's old and rubbish. We currently only have some cheap sheets on there, and the duvet and pillows could be used on the double guest bed.

Any advice?

Got our super king in feb and it’s amazing I don’t know why we took so long to go for it.

also, George at Asda - 100% cotton bedding is £20 no struggle at all (but I do only use plain white bedding)

Superking is just a life changer. If you have the space do it

Super king - you'll never go back to piddly little king size!

Word of advice though - don't get a down-filled quilt...It feels lovely but it's an absolute bugger to change the duvet cover - my arms feel like I've done 2 hours on the kettlebells in the gym when I've finished!

What are people’s thought on emperor size beds (6ft6 wide)?

King Size or Super King Size Bed?

Super king any day

badhappening · 02/08/2022 21:56

Superking and a very good mattress.
You’ll never look back.

You can easily get bedding - it’s standard on all websites/shops these days.

ItsJustASimpleLine · 02/08/2022 21:58

Super king. I love our bed. The space give us the best night sleep.

If you can fit it go for it

Mum2jenny · 02/08/2022 22:00

Superkings are great, I’ve had no issues getting bedding, but changing the duvet cover is a total pain in the arse. But if you want the sleeping space, it’s worth it.

Soontobe60 · 02/08/2022 22:02

We did have a super king and when we moved house ended up downsizing to a king because it overpowered the room - which was 13’ x 14’ . To be honest, the size difference hasn’t bothered me. Me and dh can’t sleep touching each other, hence the super king originally, but the king feels just as spacious. It’s far easier to change the bedding too 😂

tallullabluebella · 02/08/2022 22:09

Definately a super king, and the best mattress you can. Yes the duvet cover takes both of us and a few clothes pegs to change but it is wort it. We have a tempur mattress and only need a thin summer duvet all year, it's that cosy.

TeaMeBasil · 02/08/2022 22:15

100% super king. Absolutely love it and wouldn't go back.

Bedding has been easy to find, the white company sale has helped me to slowly build up some really good quality bedding. .

I can change the covers by myself but I do use clips to help the process! 😂

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 02/08/2022 22:21

We have a super king. It’s too big for the room really as we have to climb over the bottom corner to get to the en suite but it’s a price I’m willing to pay for the comfort and sleeping space. Plus the mattress weighs about 3 ton so now it’s in here it’s staying.

FinallyHere · 02/08/2022 22:24

Super king.

Two double duvets.

Game changer.

TabithaTittlemouse · 02/08/2022 22:29

Definitely super king. We’ve got an amazing mattress and I look forward to going to bed because it’s like a cloud.

I haven’t found bedding hard to find. We usually use John Lewis or m&s

ShaunaTheSheep · 02/08/2022 22:30

Double to king gives a miserly additional 6 inches - that's 3 pathetic inches each of you shared. Three inches! Not worth the price of the upgrade. Super king is only 12 inches wider but it feels bigger. Since we got ours, the only time I encounter DH in the bedroom is when we change the linen.

goingtokickthisweight · 02/08/2022 22:33

Definitely super king I love mine wouldn't be without it

RewildingAmbridge · 02/08/2022 22:33

Super king definitely, you don't need space for running around in your bedroom you need it for sleeping! Moving to super king was the best thing we've ever done.
I don't find it a challenge to find bedding, keep an eye out for sales etc as it can be expensive. It is a bit trickier to change especially with the winter duvet, but I get 6'4 DH to do it on the basis that he's the giant who needs the enormous bed, he lives that he can sleep straight rather than diagonally and so do I. Good only knows how we shared a standard double in our first flat

Seasidemumma77 · 02/08/2022 22:38

Super king 100%

Nanalisa60 · 02/08/2022 22:39

If there is room for super king always go for it.

minipie · 02/08/2022 22:39

Going against the prevailing theme but we have a king and I’ve never felt the need for a bigger bed. We’ve had enormous beds on holiday and not found it better or felt hard done by when we come back home.

Personally I’d rather have the extra space in the bedroom. Most bedrooms aren’t big enough to have a super king and not feel cramped. If we had a palatial bedroom then maybe, but it would have to be ballroom sized!

peachesandpippin · 02/08/2022 22:41

Superking!!! I wouldn't be without mine! I hate going away and having a smaller bed. Dunelm always has superking bedding so does asda. Neither are that expensive unless you want that.

Good luck and enjoy your nights sleep

Burnamer · 02/08/2022 22:45

Super king. I didn’t know there was a bigger option but now I have bed envy @BakeOffRewatch 😩

pinkpirlie · 02/08/2022 22:46

I wanted a superking, DP wanted king. I relented and got a king. He now massively regrets it as I like to sleep diagonal so he he's pushed out the bed every night. 😂

Get as big a bed as the room allows.

Chilli81 · 02/08/2022 22:57

Another vote for super king. I got ours after my second DC was born. It's my favourite thing I've ever bought - no exaggeration. The only problem is that now when we visit the in law's and have the sleep on a double it feels so cramped. Do it!
