If you've not got any greys yet...

How old are you? I'm late 30s and still to find one! I don't know why, but every time I go to the hair dresser I always ask her if she's found any greys Blush

My mum and sisters all got their first greys around 18/20 years old so I'm beginning to think I'm adopted lol!

Watch this, I'm going to wake up tomorrow with about 50 of them Wink

Just a couple of wispy ones at the temples. Not noticeable. My hair is the same as it’s always been, there’s just a little less of it now. I’m 46. Still bouncy & shiny. Lucky to have low maintenance hair, I suppose!

Same... except I'm 61.

Psychonabike · 27/07/2022 22:54

Just started to get a few -I'm 46. My mum and sister went very grey in their 20s so I guess I've been lucky.

CallOnMe · 27/07/2022 22:56

32 and I found my first this week!!

I don’t know if stress does cause them but I’ve had a particularly stressful few months so I’m hoping that’s the reason.

Most of my friends found theirs in their early twenties.

I guess it depends how often you dye your hair and if you’ve got naturally light hair too.

79andnotout · 27/07/2022 22:58

42, about 30% grey and also have three greyhounds!

RockinHorseShit · 27/07/2022 22:59

I had no grey hairs on my head up until 58 & still don't have a lot a few years later

Elsewhere is Snow White in parts though 😐

CallOnMe · 27/07/2022 23:01

Is there a difference between grey and white hair?
I assumed they were the same thing.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/07/2022 23:03

Very old! But it’s def. genetic. My DM wasn’t even properly grey when she died at 97 - just a sort of faded mousey colour. She had been what they used to call a ‘strawberry blonde’ (slightly reddish gold) and still had some of that colour at 80. Fell out with a neighbour who accused her of lying when she said she didn’t dye it!

Titsywoo · 27/07/2022 23:07

I think I got my first at 40 and now at nearly 44 I have loads!

Mischance · 27/07/2022 23:08

It is genetic I guess - I am 73 and have dark brown hair with no grey.

But I think it also relates to hair colour. I have noticed that people with blonde, light brown or black hair tend to grey, whereas people with dark brown hair tend not to.

tulips27 · 27/07/2022 23:08

I got my first ones during the start of covid (early 40s), pretty sure it was the stress.😩

I've read once they start it's like a trigger, there's no going back.

45 and no grey.

My dad went grey in his 70s, it all faded to grey in unison rather than random greys appearing. And mum is 80 and only about 30% grey.

miserablecat · 27/07/2022 23:11

I'm 44 and have found maybe 10-20 grey/white hairs over the last 5 years, I pluck them out but DH saw a long one at the back that my beady eye couldn't see. I got him to pluck it out.

miserablecat · 27/07/2022 23:13

...but is grey white hair always a different texture? The ones I pluck out are always more wiry and not as soft as my normal (dark brown) hair.
I'm always envious of blonde haired people as I'm sure the transition to grey would be much easier!

ouch321 · 27/07/2022 23:26

Same age. I have one pure white hair in my left eyebrow but no grey hairs and no grey or white in my head hair.

mrsmacmc · 27/07/2022 23:29

Mid 30's and I've got a white splodge right at the front of my parting! No greys 🤞🏻

Pinkkahori · 27/07/2022 23:32

I'm a dark brunette. I had none in my 30s, very few in my early 40s but they increased rapidly during the illness and death of a parent. I'm late 40s now and have definite grey roots.

Shakeitshakeitbaby · 27/07/2022 23:32

42

ThatsNotMyMuffin · 27/07/2022 23:38

34 and not a single one, I have wrinkles though!

PeloAddict · 27/07/2022 23:41

38 but I'm a redhead so not expecting any soon
My hair has changed colour drastically though since I was little

Moonchild18 · 27/07/2022 23:42

I started getting them last year, I'm 38 now. My hairdresser tells fibs though, she says she's not seen any but I can spend ages plucking them out in areas I can see 🤣

Eightiesfan · 28/07/2022 00:02

I’m 55, with very dark hair, and up until a few months ago had no grey. Older DSis insisted that I was dyeing it as she went grey in her 30s.

However, over the last few months I have a lot of grey/white hair around my temples. It just seemed to appear overnight, and it’s really weird and wiry!

bloodybluemoon · 28/07/2022 00:03

Wherehaveyouhiddenthebiscuits · 27/07/2022 22:11

I only got my greys after having children.

Yes 🙌

S0upertrooper · 28/07/2022 00:41

55 and no grey but my once naturally blond locks are thin and mousey brown so they've been kicked to the kerb with highlights.

JeanMarie · 28/07/2022 01:27

I'm 62 with no greys....my mum died at 78 and she had no greys so probably genetic. I have very dark brown hair/almost black as did my mum. What I do have however is a few greys in my eyebrows...I have to pencil them.
