Be a doormat and expect to be walked over.

Coffeaddict · 26/07/2022 16:21

Ehh bullshit, sanctimonious bullshit.

It sounds like a good way to put women in their place looking after their man and believing the sun shines out of his arse. Oh wait it's not the 1950s anymore

It's from a book published in the 70s by a woman born in the 30s. Even taking the era into account I would say she was way out of touch. I grew up in the seventies and neither my mother nor any of her friends back then would have thought such sentiment was anything but laughable.

My grandmother was born in 1895 and I can imagine her crying with laughter at such tripe.

FlipFlops4Me · 26/07/2022 16:25

Doormats usually get trampled on. Works with people too.

Tiny2018 · 26/07/2022 16:27

Nope. In my experience unfortunately, the old 'treat em mean, keep em keen' adage works best.

Done the worshipping bullshit, they treat you like shite.

CPL593H · 26/07/2022 16:29

Apparently one of Marabel Morgan's suggestions was to greet your DH in a sexy cowgirl outfit.

I honestly think mine would prefer I didn't Grin

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 26/07/2022 16:33

Luckily he already thinks I'm beautiful, despite the lack of reverence, surrender and worship. Needs glasses obviously

Heatstrokeunsteady · 26/07/2022 16:34

I find if you treat people with respect they mirror it back. No idea on man worshippers though, I might have to try it😁

Chikapu · 26/07/2022 16:37

That woman talks a right load of shite, insulting shite at that.

Thornethorn · 26/07/2022 16:37

Sounds like she has learnt how to get her narcissist husband to protect his narcissistic feed. Survival. So messed up.

JePréfèreLesChiens · 26/07/2022 16:37

Good men would find that really unattractive in women.

ThirtyThreeTrees · 26/07/2022 16:39

I think people should have to pass an IQ test to post of social media!

ThinkingForEveryone · 26/07/2022 17:00

Hahaha nope!

Good idea. The same should apply before you can get married.

Happylittlethoughts · 26/07/2022 17:31

My wee brain struggles with how I would even do that! What would I have to do/say/act? I try to think and ... draw a blank 🤷‍♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good luck to them

iklboo · 26/07/2022 17:41

I think she's off her cake.

Hi OP why are you posting screenshots from a very specific cultlike movement called surrendered wives and founding fathers or similar in the United States?

This

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 26/07/2022 17:44

I. Can't. Even..... AngrySad

AlexandriasWindmill · 26/07/2022 17:45

I think the Surrendered Wives' movement has been about for years so it's odd you've just noticed it and decided to share it on MN.

cheeseislife8 · 26/07/2022 17:46

That's some next-level bullshit

Hmm. I wonder what the UK equivalent of this would be? Can't be French maid, cos that's....French. Norty nurse? Librarian with glasses? Hmmm.....

Babdoc · 26/07/2022 17:47

As a Christian myself, I would have a major problem with “worshipping” any man. Worship is for God alone. Having false gods is very specifically frowned on in the Bible!
And as a feminist, I’d have difficulty not cracking up laughing at the very idea.
DH and I loved each other to bits to the day he died, but as equals, not as master and doormat.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 26/07/2022 17:49

Are you considering this in your life OP?

ErrolTheDragon · 26/07/2022 17:50

I think poor woman, that her husband's feelings for her were so horribly conditional.

Eatingsoupwithafork · 26/07/2022 17:58

Aye alright, what a load of shite.
