Has anyone got one? Are they worth it?
I've been looking but very confused what the different ones are.

I bought one after reading this thread. I got a great deal via the sodastream website but this isn't available now (terra machine, plus spare bottles and syrups for £80).

There is however a similar deal on the older spirit machine at the moment.

I've used mine a lot since I got it and upped my water consumption and reduced my diet coke habit.

I have three big bottle and keep them in the fridge prior to fizzing.

@MollyRover you may be right, cola does appear to increase risk of stones but bubble water not, in a quick review of studies.
I will mention it to him.

We have one as DH had a pepsi Max habit and he gets the official syrup which he says tastes exactly like the shop stuff. I drink fizzy water and sometimes use it with the glass bottles tonic syrup for a g&t. Kids use it for squash too.

We just put a lot less in the recycling!!

Ours is collecting dust in the garage. After the initial excitement had worn off it was a faff exchanging the canisters and it worked out too expensive.

We have one that gets used daily. Don't remember the name of the model buts it's a pretty basic one, £45 from Lakeland on a deal.

We got it to reduce plastic waste, I'm not sure there is much cost difference to buying bottles.

The pepsi and 7up syrups are actually pretty good compared the bottles but wouldn't bother with other syrups, just use squash/cordial if you want some flavour. I like a bit of lime in mine.

@Weenurse I just know I wasn't drinking nearly enough water before I got mine, now I always do. It tastes way better than the bottled fizz I was drinking too, as I only make it when I'm going to drink it.

I know that there is naturally sparkling bottled water, which is maybe what the urologist was referring too? Could be high levels of calcium in that which would definitely contribute to stones.

Dougieowner · 14/08/2022 10:41

Loved my Soda stream back in the 70's.
Bought some of the Sodastream flavours but mostly used normal cordials or just as plain sparkling water.

We've been doing this for years - never buy sparkling water, totally recommend it!

I know this was ages ago but I don't suppose you could tell me where you got this from? I love this colour but on their website they only seem to do black or white. 😊

Gilead · 26/01/2023 22:01

Love mine. Use it for sparkling water because wanted to cut plastic.

Gilead · 26/01/2023 22:01

Got mine from John Lewis.

My dh did loads of research into soda streams as I really wanted one, but we just can't justify the expense. The cost per litre was huge compared to bottled water. I know that it's all about the environment but with prices as they are, we have to be realistic. Plus the gas canisters aren't exactly the best eco friendly thing.

We have one, we’ve had it around three years and only use it for sparkling water. I don’t like the taste of our still tap water so this ensures that I drink water, before getting this I used to buy bottles of sparkling water so it’s cut down on our plastic use.

I get the gas refills from Sainsbury’s, I exchange the empty one for a full one and get £10 off the price of the new one.

Doh, just realised that I didn't tag @calmlakes

Amazon sell different colors ( in the USA at least)
