I've name changed as I'm sure when word gets round it will be very outing. We will use "pom bears" as a term of reference for how long I've been here 😂

A large bear has appeared in my brother in laws drive. In his parking space.

Very handsome, but very large 😂

No idea who dropped him off. Or even how I missed him being dropped off. (We face his drive). 😂😂😂😂

To be fair I've always said if I won the lottery one of my first purchases would be a full size giraffe statue https://www.candleandblue.co.uk/epages/es114052.mobile/enUS/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es1140522_es121978079119/Products/%22Large%20Metal%20Giraffe%22
We back onto fields but there is a well used footpath that runs the other side of our hedge, I'd put him peering out and see how long it took for comments to come in on the village FB page.

Hehe I don't think even THAT most appalling CF would've been back if Billy was on his case 😁

Billy would be a natural leader of an army of teds though.

I'd be tempted to hook up a small WiFi-type microphone thing with the speaker concealed somewhere on Billy. For the visiting tradesperson, passer-by, gawker. A random, occasional "I've got my eye on you, son." boomed out now and then would be most entertaining.

DH suggested this last night. Might stick a Ring doorbell on it 😂

So owner of garden centre decided that as Billy was unsellable he was just what your BIL needed on his drive, and drove him over there for him to find when he got home? How delightfully bonkers! I bet he wished he could have seen the moment BIL discovered he had a new giant friend!

What can I say 🤣🤣🤣🤣

He should have tied a note round his neck, the classic, 'please look after this bear, thank you'.

This ^^ 😂

One of our locals has a life size gorilla in the front garden..
Ds's gf asked if it was real.
She was 16..

Are you in North Yorkshire? I drive past a garden on my way to work with a life sized gorilla peering out of it.
Or perhaps this is more commonplace than I thought.

Ilikecheesycrackers · 22/07/2022 16:33

Shouldn't have read this thread last night. I went to sleep and had a nightmare about a bear in my garden.

Thanks OP😫

Round our way that would disappear for scrap within hours 😂

I am 36 weeks pregnant with twins and am out of it with covid. This thread has just confused me so much. I need a lie down.

Do you need a bear hug @restingbitchface30?

restingbitchface30 · 22/07/2022 18:20

@MaChienEstUnDick I think I do! I feel like I’ve just had a fever dream reading this

user1493559472 · 22/07/2022 18:21

This so weird. At first I thought I was still asleep and having a very confused post covid dream!
That bear is huge!!
Where is it from?
Who put it there? I am very confused xx

tapdancingmum · 22/07/2022 18:32

I think you are near me. Is steam involved in this village as if so I go to that garden centre lots as they have the nicest pots there. Also love the hardware store as you can buy anything in it - except for a bear it seems.

You need to decorate at Halloween and Christmas to raise money to get his foot fixed 😀

ShinyMe · 22/07/2022 18:36

MaggieFS · 21/07/2022 20:29

Could you pop some sunglasses on him please? It might make him seem a bit more friendly. Those eyes are scary.

More importantly... he can't be sold... he was FOR SALE?? Someone would actually buy that??

I often pass (or did, before they build a bloody huge new raised dual carriageway thing) a garden centre on the way to Stratford that has a huge range of giant statue things in their yard, overlooking the road. Giraffes, gorillas, a 10 ft tall Jackie Chan.... all sorts. I once stopped off to have an actual look, and my god, they were charging hundreds of pounds.

takeitandleaveit · 22/07/2022 18:54

I want some giant animal statues in my garden now.🐪

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 22/07/2022 19:14

There’s a beautiful house in North Yorkshire that has a load of Shaun the Sheep’s and a Gromit or two on the front expanse of lawn.

Pleezgivemestrength · 22/07/2022 19:28

That's cool, if you dont want it , I will take it...
Do you deliver .??

I remember reading this years ago and it's still utterly brilliant! Grin

I revisit it annually and nearly die laughing every time.

I’ve just read this and interested in an update. I too live near H in P and think the cockerel is the giveaway. Will be scanning this weekend. X

By God he's a big bugger , he needs a rotation of outfits
Pot of honey and red t-shirt - pooh
Marmalade buttie and soft black hat - Paddington
Yellow and black check trousers and scarf - Rupert
White coller and blue ( ?) Tie - yogi
What did booboo wear ?
Paint him black - black forest bear
As he is - bungle ( rainbow )
Baloo -:Hide a speaker behind him playing The Bear necessities
Red nose - fozzy bear

I have spent way to long thinking about this !
