Today I went to Aldi as usually much cheaper than Tesco/Asda but today I found it really quite expensive for the little things I got! I know prices have gone up etc.

Mainly Waitrose and Morrisons because I can walk to both. Probably 70/30 split. Waitrose have excellent offers which often takes their prices way below other supermarkets for those products. I like the vouchers too which save me quite a bit but I've obviously upset them as I didn't get any this week!

I also make occasional trips to Lidl, Aldi and M&S for specific products as they aren't local to me.
Rarely shop in Tesco and almost never go to Sainsbury.

Pyewhacket · 20/07/2022 16:17

Sainsbury's mostly.

I tried Lidl but there's never anywhere to park, it takes an age queuing for the till and they're inconsistent with what they stock. Sainsbury's isn't that much more expensive and I can actually park my car there, esily. They have what I want, it's good quality, I can use automated check-out and they have Starbucks so I can grab a coffee and do the crossword. Definitely worth the extra.

CraftyGin · 20/07/2022 16:18

Sainsbury's

It's five minute walk away, and I use Smart Shop.

Mainly Tesco online. Some things I only get when on special offer.

I dont like aldi or lidl or Asda.

Waitrose and Sainsburys are too expensive.

However when I need one or two items I will go wherever is convenient that day. No point wasting petrol to go to Tesco when I am passing Asda for example.

Oblomov22 · 20/07/2022 16:20

Sainsbury, Aldi, Costco, Iceland,Lidl,Tesco,Morrisons. In that order.

hattie43 · 20/07/2022 16:20

Waitrose

dutysuite · 20/07/2022 16:21

I shop in all the supermarkets but mostly Sainsburys as it’s my local supermarket, sometimes I have a browse through Aldi and Lidl but I find there’s always something wrong with some of the food when I get home therefore it gets wasted and doesn’t end up being much of a saving.

easyday · 20/07/2022 16:25

I use Waitrose, Sainsburys, Tesco, Ocado. Maybe actually visit Waitrose the most as it is the closest, but online I pick whichever has most convenient delivery slot.
I find Ocado most expensive, then Waitrose.

SquirrelFan · 20/07/2022 16:26

Sainsbury's delivery. Their website is by far the easiest to use of all I've tried.

FergusSingsTheBluess · 20/07/2022 16:26

Mercadona

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 20/07/2022 16:28

I don’t think the prices vary much at all so go for quality. I have a weekly shop delivered from Waitrose and things like fruit and veg last all week so I don’t need to do a tip up shop anywhere. Unlike when I shop at Aldi it might be £5-10 cheaper but I have to top up midweek as fruits gone bad or veg i planned on using later in the week s past it’s best

DogsAndGin · 20/07/2022 16:29

Gousto boxes, and then top up with milk and cereal from Morrison’s (because it’s closest)

HappyHappyHermit · 20/07/2022 16:38

Tesco, we tried Lidl and Aldi but found the prices were basically the same and they didn't have the variety of products. I don't buy many brands though and own brand Tesco bits are really good prices.

APurpleSquirrel · 20/07/2022 16:42

Aldi & Sainsburys; meat from local butcher & top ups or occasional bits from Waitrose, Asda, Tesco or M&S.

Oddbutnotodd · 20/07/2022 16:56

Everywhere. I too didn’t get any Waitrose vouchers this week.

FinallyHere · 20/07/2022 17:27

Waitrose weekly delivery, with top ups from the specialist range from Lidl, especially when the German Christmas goods are in store.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 20/07/2022 17:39

I haven’t got any vouchers this week and last weeks vouchers were rubbish.
maybe they are ironing out all of the issues. Such as being able to Use the vouchers on anything. I work at Waitrose and people have got wise and been coming in with say a voucher for £5 off washing tablets and £4 off dishwasher tabs thrn buying £10 worth of groceries and scanning the vouchers and getting it for £1!
we don’t see the vouchers as they scan them themselves and we’ve been told not to challenge.

OddBoots · 20/07/2022 17:39

Ocado and sometimes Morrisons with occasional trips to Aldi for breakfast cereal.

Shopping online and being pretty confident the stuff will be in stock lets me meal plan so I save money and reduce waste.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/07/2022 17:43

It probably works out about 2/3 / 1/3 Sainsbury's / Aldi. Weekly delivery and one top-up from Sainsbury's, then one cleaning product / loo roll / pepperoni shop at Aldi when I get paid, plus the kids' snacks (crisps / crepes / ice lollies) and fruit / veg where needed too.

Huntswomanonthemove · 20/07/2022 17:49

Ocado, Sainsburys and Lidl. I've started buying the 36p white sliced loaf and the 36p wholemeal loaf, from Lidl also their baked beans at 22p. No one has noticed any difference. Our local Lidl is actually quite good on fresh stuff, it doesn't go off any quicker than anywhere else.

RedToothBrush · 20/07/2022 18:14

Aldi / Asda as my main shop (they are right next to each other and I can't get everything in one). Sainsburys for the odd top up of fresh stuff during the week (so I don't have to drive)

Aldi and Asda come out almost the same if I shop in just one, but its frustrating that they dont have everything in either so I end up just doing both.

Having a shopping list helps enormously to keep the price down.

I find Tesco extortionate, purely because I end up trawling all the extra aisles for shit I don't need.

AdoraBell · 15/11/2022 16:00

Waitrose for deliveries. Tesco for Club card offers, Sainsbury’s for a few bits, depending where we during the week.

use583298 · 15/11/2022 16:02

Tesco weekly delivery, top up at Waitrose/M&S

fussychica · 15/11/2022 16:52

It used to be Waitrose 75%, Morrisons 20%, others 5% but recently I've definitely been buying more from Morrisons and others, partly due to lack of stock in Waitrose.
I love Waitrose for its excellent quality, great offers and vouchers. I buy things in bulk when they are on offer. I like our Morrisons for fruit, veg and meat.
If I had a local M&S they would probably get more of my custom, especially for ready meals and treats. Generally I find Sainsbury and Tesco pretty expensive, though there are odd bits I always get from Tesco if I'm passing.
