Does anyone know what this unusual utensil is?

In this month's magazine The English Home.

I have tried googling but cannot find it. (The second from left- with the little key like screw).

It looks gloriously useless and I love it!

I figure MNetters easily provide all answers relating to life and the universe. :)

I don’t know but I immediately need one. Are you saying that you know what the one on the far left is??

Yourheartwillleadyouhome · 09/07/2022 13:26

Is it a lemon squeezer?

Namechange7777 · 09/07/2022 13:27

I was going to guess something to do with grapefruit.

It’s to squeeze something. I’d assume lemon.

WeegieWan · 09/07/2022 13:28

Asparagus holder?

GoodOnPaper · 09/07/2022 13:29

Is it tongs to pick up sugar cubes??

BasiliskStare · 09/07/2022 13:29

Does it shoot the stones out of olives ?

SoupDragon · 09/07/2022 13:30

I think it's to hold something rather than to squeeze something.

BaronessBomburst · 09/07/2022 13:30

Google lens thinks it's a candlestick.
My guess is something to do with lobsters or crab claws.

Saisong · 09/07/2022 13:30

I'm going for cracking lobster claws <niche>

BudgetTarzan · 09/07/2022 13:31

Is it a porridge spurtle?

DorritLittle · 09/07/2022 13:31

Nutcracker? Intrigued.

Downunderduchess · 09/07/2022 13:31

Perhaps some type of corer or pitter?

SummerLobelia · 09/07/2022 13:31

I thought asparagus holder also, but google does not come up like that. Then I thought something to do with molluscs as apparently it is part of a french vintage cutlery set.

The one on the far left..... I think (although I am most likely wrong) that it is something to do with a consomme. Although now I am trying to pin down why I think that i am not sure.

Aquamarine1029 · 09/07/2022 13:32

No idea, but I need one immediately.

maras2 · 09/07/2022 13:33

Looks like something from the Inquisition.😬

FourTeaFallOut · 09/07/2022 13:33

No idea. Is it for intimidating clueless guests?

Amipreg1 · 09/07/2022 13:33

I think it's a bone clamp for a leg of lamb or similar.

SoupDragon · 09/07/2022 13:33

Annoyingly I've found another one online but it has no description!

RudsyFarmer · 09/07/2022 13:34

I think it’s something to do with shellfish.

SummerLobelia · 09/07/2022 13:35

[I am not ignoring people... I am just googling every idea... sugar tongs is possibly closest so far... ]

It's to hold the bone in a leg of lamb/ham for carving. you can just see it in this pic.

anotherneutralname · 09/07/2022 13:35

Google says it is a “sleeve of leg” for mutton. So that clears that up 😂
