How Strict Chessington with free entry for under 3d?

Bertieboo82 · 09/07/2022 12:52

It’s free entry for under 3 or £36

I am going with a friend. She’s planning on trying to get her 6 year old through. No judgement please. She’s using the Kelloggs free adult (thanks to a lovely mumsnetter) and yet still out of her range. I can’t sub her £36 as that would be a stretch for me!

she has had a very rough year and money is very tight for her.

i know it is easy to judge but please try not to

Just after how strict Chessington is please

Pretending a 6 year old is 2 😂?! Just how tiny is the child

HardRockOwl · 09/07/2022 12:53

Well fair play to her for giving it a go but I think a 6 year old will be hard to pass off as a 3 year old so I wouldn't be getting my hopes up if I was her

Baker90 · 09/07/2022 12:54

I think she is very much going to struggle getting a 6 year old through as a 3 year old.. 4 maybe but 6 no.
Not too sure what else to suggest but especially If travelling it sounds like it will end up being a wasted journey to get turned away when arriving.

Saucery · 09/07/2022 12:55

I would think it’s stricter than taking a 6yr old for a 2yr old. Even the 6yr olds I know that are small are just….small rather than looking 3 years younger.

BiscoffSundae · 09/07/2022 12:55

Under 3... so 2.

RewildingAmbridge · 09/07/2022 12:55

Can anyone pay in clubcard vouchers and she pays them? It would cost two thirds less so £12 isn't much for her to spend and it's not much to lose in terms of clubcard vouchers

icelollycraving · 09/07/2022 12:56

Unless the child is teeny, I think it’s v unlikely to happen. She will be mortified when they say no.
This is just my opinion, haven’t been to Chessington since I was probably 6.
I am sure plenty of kids on the cusp of the age do it, but a 6 year old is not going to pass for a toddler.
Do something she can afford!

KittyKittyKat · 09/07/2022 12:58

That’s a bonkers idea. There’s no way a 6 year old will pass for 3!! Of course they’ll challenge her and it will be so upsetting and embarrassing for her DC when they’re turned away at the gate

Roselilly36 · 09/07/2022 12:59

That’s too cheeky, never going to get away with that surely. My DS’ at that age would have told the assistant their age, they would have been disgusted if I as tried to pass them off as under 3, I wouldn’t have had the nerve to begin with.

FlipFlopShopInHawaii · 09/07/2022 12:59

Do you remember the poster that wanted to bring her child into an attraction for free as under 3, when it was his 3rd birthday?? The vitriol from some on MN was incredible, but he's not under 3, you can't do that, it's illegal.... I thought then, fair enough bring him as a free under 3. But at 6??? Surely there's no way that would work?

Tee20x · 09/07/2022 13:00

Even someone who doesn't have kids will 100% tell that a 6 year old isn't 3. 3.5-4 year old may pass but not 6.

Remember even if the individual staff member doesn't care they will probably pull you on it anyways for fear of getting in trouble by bosses or ratted out by colleagues.

V unlikely to work so I wouldn't try to save the embarsssmenf

ItsSnowJokes · 09/07/2022 13:00

Not,a chance they will get in I'm afraid. I have not met a 6 year old that could pass for a 3 year old unless they had a medical condition.

HappyandYouKnowitClapYourHands · 09/07/2022 13:00

Absolutely not going to happen. Like a lot of people, I think she’ll have to just accept that a big theme park is currently out of her price range and she should do something cheaper with her six year old and put Chessington on the bucket list. Hopefully she can regift the Kelloggs adult one that someone gave to her.

saltwaterandsuncream · 09/07/2022 13:01

She needs to think how disappointed the 6 year old will be when they say no at the gate.

Bringonsummer19 · 09/07/2022 13:02

meh I really don’t think chessington is great for small kids..they will ask

ItsSnowJokes · 09/07/2022 13:02

Go to the local park or have a paddling pool out of something. Don't embarrass everyone by trying to do this and then having to walk away as can't afford it. The kids will feel worse knowing they travelled all the way there to get turned away. Get them excited about cheap stuff at home.

SnowyPetals · 09/07/2022 13:02

People try and cheat theme parks like this on a daily basis. Of course they are going to notice that a six year old doesn't qualify for free entry.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/07/2022 13:03

More than twice the age... they will notice.

A few weeks or months, it could work.

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 09/07/2022 13:04

The only way I can see it working is if you put the DC in a buggy and cover her enormous 6 year old legs up.

Motnight · 09/07/2022 13:06

Your friend just has to accept that she can't afford to take her child to Chessington. It's no biggie.

KittyKittyKat · 09/07/2022 13:07

Don’t forget the parking is expensive too!!

In her shoes she could look at Hobbledown which is near Chessington and it would cost £40 for the two of them. It’s not rides, but a great day out for that age range. It’s much more enjoyable than Chessington, which is endless queue after queue!!

savemeagin · 09/07/2022 13:10

Under 3s get in free. So you think a 6 year old can pass for a 2 year old??? 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 yeah good luck with that. How awful for the poor child to get there, then get told they can't go in.

Clymene · 09/07/2022 13:10

I'm not sure it's strict as much as not being stupid. No one is going to believe a 6 year old is 2

itsgettingweird · 09/07/2022 13:11

Probably a small 4 yo you could.

We went to a farm which was free for under 4,s.

Ds was 5 (and tiny) and I noticed when we went through they hadn't charged me for him as they'd assumed he was under 4!

Have you got any Tesco or something vouchers? They can be changed up for chessington

Svara · 09/07/2022 13:13

No chance that a child could pass for under 3 after their 4th birthday unless they were extremely small and young looking as a result of prematurity or a medical condition.
