DH lost his job, what to do next?

DH works in what most people would regard as quite a difficult professional industry particularly with respect to relationships with colleagues (disagreements, backstabbings etc.).

DH was very high up in the pecking order, but unfortunately as time has progressed, it has become clear that he is not really up to the job, despite his bluster and hyperbole.

Anyway, DH has finally resigned from his role, several months after it became clear he is no longer respected by his colleagues.

Accommodation was provided through DH's work, we have two young DC, and a dog called Dilyn. I own a small flat that is not really big enough for all of us, and DH's home is currently let, so we can't move in there. We don't have anywhere to live, and we don't have any income.

DH says he will be able to earn money easily, drawing from his previous career as a journalist.

I am very nervous about our future. Can anyone offer any advice please. I am a SAHM.

Brilliant op 😂😂😂

LilyMarshall · 07/07/2022 21:02

Have you at least a tree house you could stay in temporarily?

Notthisnotthat · 07/07/2022 21:09

LTB!

velvetvixen · 07/07/2022 21:15

I think you and your husband have also planned a lavish late wedding party in another of his works accommodations? Can he hang on until the party's over?

I feel workhouses may be on the way back, I'm sure your family can apply for places if neither of you are gainfully employed.

HuntingoftheSnark · 07/07/2022 21:34

I'm afraid that even Dilyn is tweeting against you. You must keep your dog away from both Larry the cat and laptop.

LTB.
You can do so much better than this deadbeat, lying, cheating idiot of a man. Grin

HelloSpringIveMissedYou · 07/07/2022 21:37

Love it OP Grin

AnneShirleysNewDress · 07/07/2022 21:39

Love it! Be sure to take the wallpaper.

DistrictCommissioner · 07/07/2022 21:52

Not sure I would have caught on without the mention of Dilyn!

DoThePropeller · 07/07/2022 21:55

It is ok, you are director of comms for a wildlife foundation! I think you’ll survive.

Gymnopedie · 07/07/2022 22:01

I think I've got an idea of the sort of job your husband had. If I'm right, then I believe that someone else used to do the same type of work. The one I'm thinking of was at one time very gung ho at the prospect of a good (?) war. Does your husband show any signs of feeling the same way? Because the first one went on to get a job as a Peace Envoy - do you think your DH might fancy doing the same? I'm sure if he put his mind to it he'd be just as successful at it as the first one.

Itslookinggood · 07/07/2022 22:08

Fear not op! DH normally has a helpful Latin quote for such occasions.

if that doesn’t lift your mood, you could LTb. You’ll find a supportive community of ex wives - I believe there’s even a FB group.

Either way great times are ahead! Taking back control! Levelling up! You’ll save £20m a week! It’s all going to be roses!

User74936782 · 07/07/2022 22:16

I also got has far as Dilyn before realising, if the dog hadn't had an unusual name I would have been fooled😂

I thought you were planning on moving in with Zac anyway, he’s loaded! And isn’t there a rumour that your ‘D’H’s hairdresser has had to leave the country as he has got her pregnant, surely he could emigrate to Canada! Problem solved….

He does not have an actual hairdresser surely?!

Iwonder08 · 07/07/2022 22:28

Don't try it for a leaving OP. Not even remotely amusing

Danikm151 · 07/07/2022 22:28

just carefully peel the wallpaper and sell it!

Iwonder08 · 07/07/2022 22:28

tearsforfears72 · 07/07/2022 22:44

You could retrain, perhaps your next job could be in cyber?

Neverendingdust · 07/07/2022 23:07

Oh hun, have a hand hold from me. What a mess. 💐

How long is his notice period?

FrenchBoule · 07/07/2022 23:16

Kick his butt to Job Centre tomorrow and sign up for UC.

Research the Food board, plenty of recipes on budget, you’ll easily feed your family with 1 chicken

Sallypally0 · 07/07/2022 23:24

He should get a job with just eat. Something is better than nothing

LadyWithLapdog · 07/07/2022 23:31

Have you tried the Russians? Don’t worry, no need to declare it or anything proper like that.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 07/07/2022 23:34

I hear Go Ape are hiring. He’ll need a penchant for the zip wire and be comfortable with his head in the clouds.

TabithaTittlemouse · 07/07/2022 23:35

I hear that the circus are hiring.

quietnightmare · 07/07/2022 23:37

Could he paint you like one of his French girls and sell that for a 20 that will tied you over the weekend
