People are reading headlines and not the articles. It’s saying on all the major news sites that he’s resigning. When you read the actual articles it’s saying he’s been told he needs to resign today but ‘he vows to fight on’ 🙄

He's resigned as party leader but he'll be PM till Autumn when they hope to have a new leader by Party conference.

There is some talk about speeding the process up - and getting someone before then - and some voices saying he shouldn't be caretaker - but at minute we get a new PM by Tory conference - what they do in meantime about huge gaps in government I expect we'll find out in next few hours.

BBC political correspondent had a call from downing street he's been on Radio 4 today program which is running late - expect he'll be on TV - basically BJ took decision this morning around 8.30 announced after 9 after speaking to 1922 committee head and apparently chief whip was also in N 10 this morning.

Apparently - they just said it was 9.10 when they let journalist's know - and it was immediately on air.

It does time bit of time to update webpages - quicker to get on air - radio or TV.

Yep he's spoken to the 1922 committee and is apparently writing his resignation letter now. But will prob stay in office until a new leader is elected.
