Pineapple hot dog cabbage

Does anyone remember those pineapple cheese hot dog things that were a staple in 80's maybe even 90's parties?

It was a cabbage or similar wrapped in foil with cocktail sticks in? Like a pin head off that horror film but nice.

In my opinion it was a tinned hot dog, a picked onion and a piece of cheese.

My DH has said it was a cocktail sausage, a bit of pineapple and a pice of cheese.

What are your memories of this please?

You're getting them mixed up I think. We always had pineapple and cheese on one stick, sausages were on their own on a different stick.

I love them so I got a wooden hedgehog for Xmas a few years ago and always make one when I’ve got people round!

Half grapefruit covered in foil here, and hedgehog spines of cheese and pineapple cubes. Mass produced, mild cheddar for the cheese, bought especially (my parents' parties often had a decent cheese board.)

Nothing else ever appeared on the hedgehog, as far as I remember. Cocktail sausages were sometimes served, but in a big bowl, not on a hedgehog.

We had some cheese and pineapple, some just cocktail sausages and some cheese and mini pickled onion all stuck in wrapped large potatoes - great memories!

I want one of these!

No hot dogs in my experience - cheese pineapple and picked onions in a mix of combinations.

It was either a cocktail sausage on a stick, or a lump of tinned pineapple and a lump of cheese on a stick. And it was yum! I now want a lump of cheese and a lump of pineapple on a stick very much indeed.

We used half a large orange or grapefruit. No tin foil because it was quite pretty! Cocktail sticks with pickled onions, cheese and pineapple. I loved them!

I do one maybe once a month, cheese and pineapple, cheese and silverskin onions and whatever sausages we have. Amazing how much kids eat when u declare a party tea!

Cheese and pineapple or cheese and pickle. Cocktail sausages on a separate stick (not hotdogs). I still do these for dc's parties!
