I have been monitoring prices and in January this cost 70 pence. Crazy prices.

I nearly had a fit at the price of oven chips. £3!!!

Outoutoutshout · 03/07/2022 14:41

A can of beans and sausages was £1.80 when I looked 😱

SummerBummers · 03/07/2022 14:41

At the beginning of the year my average weekly shop was £45. I now struggle to do it for under £60

gingersplodgecat · 03/07/2022 14:42

Increased delivery costs at every part of the chain. Price of diesel has gone up rather dramatically just lately.

Ocado I kg of Lurpak £9 !! Who pays £9 for butter!

What is the deal with Fish Fingers. £3.50 for 10. Why??!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/07/2022 14:59

925XX, well, if you choose to buy Danish butter, when there’s U.K. butter that’s just as good and cheaper….

bigbluebus · 03/07/2022 14:59

Heinz soup is only 89p in B&M Bargains. Where are you buying yours?

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 03/07/2022 15:01

it‘s only going to get worse. Current production is using last years wheat. Harvests and planting this years are (so far) terrible. Prices are going up more.

Also, dairy companies are apparently about to start recovering the 70% reduction in margin they’ve recently suffered.ie it’s not going to be lurpak…

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 03/07/2022 15:01

6 x Tins of Heinz Tomato soup £2.99 in B&M, where are you looking??

DahliaMacNamara · 03/07/2022 15:05

Not everyone lives near B&M or Home Bargains. I happened to be in both of them yesterday, a rare treat, and the multibuys of Heinz soup cost the same as in Morrisons, ie £4 for 4.

Georgeskitchen · 03/07/2022 15:09

Buy the home brands. Tesco or sainsburys tomato soup around 45p, no difference in quality. Same with butter, way cheaper than branded items

Think how long one kilogram of butter should last though!

Buy a pack, much cheaper than multibuys.

May I suggest Aldi tomato soup as a substitute? I really can't tell the difference between that and Heinz. Got to be worth a try anyway.

motogirl · 03/07/2022 15:22

Where are you shopping??? I bought oven chips for 89p this week!

Pomped · 03/07/2022 15:24

Definitely noticing the cost of everything go up - a small basket of shopping can be £40 - needing to be much more mindful with choices

genuinely worried for this autumn

Mamadothehump · 03/07/2022 15:26

I was shocked in Tesco yesterday when I saw single tins of Heinz beans for £1 each! No multipacks there.

IGotItInTheSales · 03/07/2022 15:27

5 Heinz products for £5 on Asda app

MarmiteRiceCake · 03/07/2022 15:29

Heinz soup is too salty anyway. Boycott their products and they’ll be forced to reduce the prices.

COL1N · 03/07/2022 15:32

Heinz have put through massive cost increases, way above cost of inflation. Tesco are making a stand against them & wont be selling alot of their products until they agree to reduce costs. I am buying own label now instead!

Babyroobs · 03/07/2022 15:37

Shocked this morning at paying £1.95 for a small tub of Bisto chicken gravy granules. It will last us maybe 2 roasts?

I think a lot of companies must be doing this. God forbid the millionaire fat cat shareholders take a hit in the millions of pounds profits. We all have to empty our pockets so they can fill theirs.

hennybeans · 03/07/2022 15:38

A 10 pack of Cadbury mini rolls was selling for £3.50 this morning in Sainsbury's. Who would buy that?? I would expect the price to be about £1.50- £2, and then I would wait for it to be on sale for less.

SarahShorty · 03/07/2022 15:38

Supply chain disruption caused by two years of lockdown, inflation. I grow my own lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes etc now. All the fresh produce in the supermarket isn't locally sourced, so it's bound to be more expensive. Another brand I've stopped buying from now is McCain. Degenerate brand.
