It's not long enough.

This story breaks my heart. That poor boy, with nobody who saved him. He wasn't shown the love he deserved.

This is where the death penalty should be reinstated. For extreme cases such as this. (Hope that's not breaking any guidelines, but please edit last line out, if so)

It’s controversial @startfresh but I agree. There’s no place on this earth for people like this. No amount of help and support can change the fact they actively and knowingly dumped an innocent five year old boy’s dead body in a river for absolutely no reason. There’s no coming back from that in my opinion.

The teenager was being fostered in the months before the murder, and the family who fostered him have said so much about his behaviour and threats towards Logan, and other children in general.

How did he then end up living with Logan? Did they not report any of what they witnessed?

The article I read today said they did report their concerns to social services, but were ignored.

OliviaBond · 30/06/2022 21:48

I'm confused about how the teen fits in. Is he Logan's half brother through the mum? or was he the step dads step son?

startfresh · 30/06/2022 21:50

Exactly @Abouttimemum
I've done extensive research into the death penalty and deeply understand the pros and cons. And for this, prison is not enough. They took a poor young boy's life away and they'll never truly be able to repent. They are an absolute waste of oxygen.
I couldn't even imagine. I wouldn't want to.

Cole was in a relationship with his mother, and has been a ‘father figure’ so to speak since he was 9 months old. So Cole was effectively his step dad. They were given custody of him five days before Logan’s death. No coincidence really.

OliviaBond · 30/06/2022 21:57

Ahh thanks. I thought it seemed odd he referred to angharad as mum as she can't have been in his life that long.

NrlySp · 30/06/2022 21:58

Maybe this post will be deleted but I’ll write it anyway.
we have a society where some women chose to prioritize their relationships with violent abusive men over the safety and well being of their children.
social services is underfunded and experienced foster parents are ignored.
covid lockdowns were a disaster for our most vulnerable children. More terrible cases will
come to light.
There is a lack of social cohesion so vile individuals like this can perpetrate terrible crimes.
I agree the death penalty should be brought back for such cases.
The teenage boy is simultaneously a perpetrator and a victim - what terrible things must he have experienced and seen to do such a terrible crime and then lie about it so well.
It is well know that children are more at risk from men in the home that are not their blood relatives.
the blame is squarely at the door of both the adults. Almost bekundet belief that people can be so evil.

washingwakeup · 30/06/2022 22:01

Thanks @SuzyQ12

Poor reporting in the BBC article I read today then.

Quicknamechangefortoday · 30/06/2022 22:02

I completely agree with you nrlysp. I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of hearing about women moving random men into their houses two minutes after they’ve met them. I have first hand experience of horrific sexual abuse in this way. Women who can only think about themselves and their wants and needs. Where is the instinct to protect your child? That evil bitch stood by in her own home and let that piece of shit and his vile son beat and torture her child every day. Disgusting and I hope it haunts her for the rest of her life.

Anothernameforallthis · 30/06/2022 22:03

I don’t understand the relationships here. Who are the parents of the teenage boy? Is it either of the perpetrators?

whatsthestory123 · 30/06/2022 22:04

how can the couple be granted ok to look after the teen when Logan was under their care was on an at risk register through social services

i dont get that at all

Damn right it should! That 14 year old psycho will be out and up to no good like that fucker who killed James Bulger. Anonymity my arse - should have dropped him into the middle of Liverpool and let him take his chances.

JustTheOneSwan · 30/06/2022 22:06

The SS will say lessons have been learnt yada yada but when are these lessons that cost children agonising death going to pay off and prevent further deaths?
AS aren't fit for purpose.
I know it was the evil fuckers who killed Logan but people were in a position, a paid duty to prevent this.
We can't predict every evil act but like other recent cases the agency who are tasked with child protection failed.

No, but the man had been in the teenager's life since he was nine months old and is described as having raised him. He had been fighting for parental responsibility and custody, which was granted shortly before the murder.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 30/06/2022 22:08

Another poor, poor.kid just totally abandoned to the hands of people who are not related to them and who hate them.

I can't tolerate it. Every one of these stories kills me.

PaperTyger · 30/06/2022 18:41

Step son? Were they married?.

This is as far as I am.aware not step son or steps father just a bf moved in?

The teenage boy who has now been named was the son of Coles former g/f so he wasn't related to any of them. He had been places in foster care and displayed extreme violent tendencies towards other children. Hopefully he can be rehabilitated but I wouldn't hold my breath

I dont buy the social services are underfunded and lessons will be learned yadda yadda when ANOTHER child is killed

Anothernameforallthis · 30/06/2022 22:11

@Latenightreader So where are his parents? Are they involved in what has happened?

I agree. It’s absolutely breaking me. Completely innocent little babies all of them.

toomuchlaundry · 30/06/2022 22:15

How often did Logan’s dad see him?

Quicknamechangefortoday · 30/06/2022 22:16

Social services employ too many people that are wet behind the ears and seem adept at having the wool pulled over their eyes. 20 minutes a social worker was at Logan’s house and she didn’t check on him once. Didn’t even look through his bedroom door. And where have we heard this before where SS don’t even bother to check the child? Oh yes, Baby P, Star, Arthur, I could go on. They are not fit for purpose. Useless is a word that springs to mind.

Abouttimemum · 30/06/2022 22:17

Anothernameforallthis · 30/06/2022 22:11

@Latenightreader So where are his parents? Are they involved in what has happened?

He was taken out of his mum’s care after she violently assaulted him. And put in the care of the foster carers who were terrified of him and told SS of their concerns. He was then put in the same home as the little boy he’d threatened to kill. It absolutely beggars belief.

I’ve seen no mention of a father, aside from Cole who’s been in his life since 9 months.

JustTheOneSwan · 30/06/2022 22:18

toomuchlaundry · 30/06/2022 22:15

How often did Logan’s dad see him?

It said he last saw him 19months before his death. His mum blocked it.

How often did Logan’s dad see him?

The documentary said that he’d not been allowed to see him for 19 months. No mention of the ins and outs of that.
