I've lost 2 stone in 14 weeks - is this good?

MrsPicklePie · 28/06/2022 17:44

Because right now, it feels like a bit of a slog tbh.

I was feeling like it was pretty good but my friend said to me that it was actually quite slow. And I've still got another stone and a bit to go 🤨

Motivation needed probably!

@LadyEloise1 the boring way really! I don't calorie count but I just eat three meals a day and 2 small snacks. I don't eat sugar unless it's in fruit for example. I don't low carb but don't eat things like pasta or potatoes or rice - but I will have the occasional sweet potato or quinoa.

I have worked hard to not think anymore in terms of 'cheat meals' and 'days off' ... I also don't give myself reasons to have puddings etc and when I have say, an ice cream, it's a one off and not a weekly thing.

And I swim 5 times a week.

And that's it.

Well I feel a bit brighter now! Thanks all

This has had to become my bloody full time hobby tbh.

That's brilliant, you've done so well! Frankly, I'm jealous too! I used to be able to lose weight, when I was younger, but it got so much harder after the menopause. I try, but unlike you, I fail. Congratulations.

MrsPicklePie · 28/06/2022 18:39

@Snuffy28 also peri menopausal and ancient. Also said I'd not be able to do it now. Turns out it is possible but my brain always wants me to take the quickest possible route so accepting that getting 3.5 stone off is going to take me 6 months has been the hardest bit tbh

Losing weight at a slower rate in a healthy sustainable way is the best method to keep the weight off I’ve found. Silly fad diets and starving yourself might give you quick results but they’re far more likely to be short term.

Well done OP it’s a brilliant achievement.

CornishTiger · 28/06/2022 18:41

I’d be thrilled. It’ll stay off too

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 28/06/2022 18:55

No that's brilliant. Please inspire me!

Littlebirdyouaresosweet · 28/06/2022 18:57

Now I feel guilty I haven't got such willpower..
Not as long as dd keeps baking.

Homemade cinnamon swirls last night...
The smell of the kitchen alone gained me weight....

ShinySylveon · 28/06/2022 19:03

That's brilliant. I'm currently trying to lose 3 stone and I will be delighted if I make that sort of progress. Well done!

Mariposista · 28/06/2022 19:10

Ignore her OP. You are doing brilliantly. Gradual, sustainable weight loss is best anyway. And of course depends how much you have to lose, your age and many other factors.

Lizziekisss · 28/06/2022 19:10

Thats excellent , well done you.

Januarytoes · 28/06/2022 19:17

That's not slow OP! That's a kilo a week! It's perfect. Well done

Cakeandcardio · 28/06/2022 19:18

Either your friend is massively overweight and had loads more to lose so lost it faster than you or they have never had to lose weight and have no idea what they are talking about. I've found that people can act like they know a lot when they know nothing. Well done for all of your hard work, you've done so well and are on the home straight now!

A580Hojas · 28/06/2022 19:20

I would say 2lb a week every week is pretty fast actually. I would honestly be delighted if I could lose 5lb per month.

TheWeeDonkey · 28/06/2022 19:29

That sounds brilliant actually and by treating it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet you're much more likely to stick with it.

MumE78 · 28/06/2022 19:33

Doesn't matter how long it took.

2 stone down!

What an achievement 👏

ManonDe · 28/06/2022 19:42

sounds to me like your friend is jealous and trying to sabotage you.

SummerPuddings · 28/06/2022 19:43

How?!?!

Emmelina · 28/06/2022 19:50

That sounds fantastic! It’s more likely to stay off if it’s come of steadily, rather than a big drop!

MrsPicklePie · 28/06/2022 20:07

@SummerPuddings the boring way.

3 meals a day
2 snacks
I don't eat refined sugar
Do eat carbs but not potatoes or pasta
Swim 5 days a week

Don't count calories but mindful of portions

And that's it.

Calmdown14 · 28/06/2022 20:21

I'd say that's amazing.

Slow and steady is better for keeping it off.

Also better for your skin. Really rapid weight loss on crash diets can cause a lot more sagging. You are doing it right.. don't be disheartened.

CallOnMe · 29/06/2022 06:20

That’s amazing! Well done!

And that weight will be actual fat loss instead of water weight which will come straight back on.

All these diets that claims to make you lose more than 5lbs a week are BS and you’ll find the people who do them maintain them.

Dieting is so much more complex than just eating less and research has showed that the slower and more sensible that you do it - the more likely you are to maintain it.

Be very, very proud of yourself OP!

JangolinaPitt · 29/06/2022 06:24

You are doing it perfectly! Last summer I lost 12 kilos in 2 months and my hair fell out… Mt figure looked great and d I got loads of compliments fully dressed, but lots of loose skin around my stomach so not so good naked…😀

Weatherwax13 · 29/06/2022 06:26

What an odd thing to say. IME that's a significant loss in that timeframe and all the more laudable as done in such a sensible way. Well done!
