Anyone else just think it’s great that life is back to “normal”?

After two years of covid restrictions, I mean.

Was just watching Glastonbury and looking at the big crowds of people there, it’s hard to believe we have had so many restrictions over the last two years.

This time in 2020 and even this time last year I never thought we’d get back to this level of normality, well at least not for an extremely long time so I just think it’s wonderful to see everyone back together and enjoying themselves again

Some people never stopped having fun and enjoying themselves though did they? The government were having a piss up every Friday were they not?

But I know what you mean. I do think it's strange that even last year everything was so different to what it is now.

JustThisTrice · 26/06/2022 00:52

I’m still feeling quite surprised by the normalcy. For ages I felt so happy mostly because everywhere I went was quieter 😂 but it really does seem like the old days again.

EmmaH2022 · 26/06/2022 00:52

Sort of

i fear another lockdown and the effect of it won't go

so my view is defined by the permanent damage

(and 2020 Glasto would have had Taylor Swift!)

MintJulia · 26/06/2022 00:55

I went to two conferences in the last two weeks. It was lovely to actually talk to people face to face, to chat in big impromptu groups. To have a photo taken as a group.

I could almost hear the sighs of relief 😊

Gilead · 26/06/2022 01:00

I’ve got Covid thanks to people thinking it’s all back to normal. I’m high risk.

Yes! That’s exactly what I feel too! It’s all so odd but in a good way!

I never thought normal life would be possible for a very very long time, I thought we’d be in masks and in and out of lockdowns for years to come and it’s hard to believe this time two years ago we were only allowed a certain number of people into our houses never mind mass gatherings at concerts

Yup.

Hospital admissions are rising again and the NHS is planning another winter of variants and chaos.

Normal is just great.

curiousitygotthebetterofme · 26/06/2022 01:04

Well I guess it was a given the hospital admissions would rise but I haven’t read anything (yet) to say the hospitals are overwhelmed? And I don’t think the death rates have increased either? Happy to be proven wrong though as I haven’t looked at the statistics

I’m not in the UK but where I am it’s life as usual with masks. In some respects I feel a sense of loss because I find it difficult to hear or be heard with a mask and so a lot of that daily chat content is no more. Maybe it’s a good thing, I probably talked a load of shite in the past.

Malariahilaria · 26/06/2022 01:21

No I'm not really. We could have learnt some really good lessons from all this but we chose not to. It's been lovely to see a few people again but forcing people back to crowded trains, tubes and offices again just so bosses have a purpose has annoyed me. A few have done it right by making collaboration days and my office has done this but I feel sorry for people forced back to a rat race that need not happen. I accept I'm an introvert though so extroverts disagree.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 26/06/2022 01:32

Yes. I had COVID for a week and it was rubbish but I got through it. While lockdowns were in force and GPs stopped seeing people in person, however, I was fobbed off repeatedly and then turned out to have a condition with potentially life-threatening complications. Besides this I had severe clinical depression which was getting worse. So I am now enjoying some kind of return to normal life with a lot of anger for people who use disabled people as a cudgel for their own support for restrictions.

I don't think they could enforce another lockdown now, I think most people would ignore it.
Life is busy, you can't avoid that

ozymandiusking · 26/06/2022 01:48

We've just been watching Glastonbury, and I remarked to DH how lucky we are and happy all the people looked. When there is all that war going on in the Ukraine because of that b***d Putin, and all the other restricted countries.
We don't know we're born.

devildeepbluesea · 26/06/2022 01:55

I’m absolutely delighted. The footage of Michael sea is welcoming people into the site really lifted my heart.

We will all catch covid regularly now, just like we do the common cold. I refuse to isolate from other people any more, I’m absolutely loving all the scenes from Glastonbury.

devildeepbluesea · 26/06/2022 01:57

Michael Eavis

StottyCakeandJam · 26/06/2022 02:05

Yes, I’m loving it. It’s been great to get on a plane again, go to the cinema and the theatre, to hug people, to stand in a crowd! Totally ignoring the odd doom-monger that pops up, although thankfully they’re few and far between. 😉

FrecklesMalone · 26/06/2022 02:11

I was very pro lockdown and knew it wouldn't last. The hysteria around it was laughable. I have had lots of long-term illness and knew patience was needed.

KangarooKenny · 26/06/2022 06:43

I look at Glastonbury and see a big cess pit of Covid. The numbers will rocket after it. I currently know 3 positive people , and even through lockdown times I never knew that many positive people at once.

NotMeNoNo · 26/06/2022 06:44

Had a lovely weekend away with a group last week. Now about 15 of us have Covid Sad. So not quite normal.

I can think of about eight people in my circle who’ve had covid in the past week or so. Me included. During lockdown I didn’t know anyone who had it. Inevitable consequences of life getting back to normal.

ArcheryAnnie · 26/06/2022 06:47

I'm now disabled as a result of having covid twice. I've been in various levels of pain since March 2020.

I'm certainly not back to normal.. I don't think I ever will be.

Newnormal99 · 26/06/2022 06:47

My daughters primary school had their first school fair since pre covid yesterday.

It was lovely.

Oblomov22 · 26/06/2022 06:50

Watching Glastonbury is good. I don't agree with those saying it's a covid cess pit, yes some might covid but we have to deal with that, and we are.

toucaninjapan · 26/06/2022 06:50

I'm in Japan, everybody's still wearing masks everywhere even though it's humid +35 outside.
Several of my colleagues went to Europe on a business trip and all ended up with Covid. They were wearing masks of course, but people around them weren't, so...

WhatNoRaisins · 26/06/2022 06:56

The thing that really screwed with my mental health during covid was all that talk of a "new normal" so yes I'm glad to see normal life going on again.
