Pet Shop Boys, Always on my Mind.

You?

Wilson Phillips did a storming version of Good Vibrations, I think I might slightly prefer the original but it's a close thing.

MrsBobBlackadder · 24/06/2022 23:29

I love love LOVE Prince's version of Manic Monday. I mean, it's not actually a cover because he wrote it. But it is so much better than the Bangles version 😍

Usually I hate amateurs ruining a tune but we have a local band with a very strong lead singer that does Paolo’s Jenny Don’t Be Hasty brilliantly.
Less smug bloke, more angst and a bit of rock vocals. Mmmm.

Another Brick in the Wall by Korn

Behind Blue Eyes by Limp Bizkit

AncoraAmarena · 24/06/2022 23:35

Absolutely agree with this choice.

And god how I Ioved Dave Vanian back in the day. (He's aged well, I still would...)

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 24/06/2022 23:39

The whole of Reload by Tom Jones. All covers, all belters.

I will also add in Justin Hawkins's cover of 'this town ain't big enough' that was so good Sparks actually are in the video for it.

notacooldad · 24/06/2022 23:40

*I am also not convinced of Disturbed's version of Sound if Silence but his singing of it live is very good?
I still don't like it live. They took a de ent song and overpriced it it became over hyped and eventually over played.
It still spoils a good concert for me!

bringon2020 · 24/06/2022 23:46

Jolene, Miley Cyrus

comfortablyfrumpy · 24/06/2022 23:46

Was going to say A New England, Kirsty MacColl but several people (with excellent taste) beat me to it :)

Littleroundsponge · 24/06/2022 23:48

Ella Henderson - Believe

lightisnotwhite · 24/06/2022 23:50

Miley has appeared a few times. I love her and Billy Idol doing Rebel Yell. She’s a bloody good female vocalist. Such a shame it’s all about her sex life in the press.

Jolene, Miley Cyrus

I think this cover really highlights her talent. It's very impressive. Her voice works well in various different genres

Rufffles · 24/06/2022 23:55

The Killing Moon (Echo & the Bunnymen) covered by a-ha on their unplugged album from 2015. Ian McCulloch was there to do it with them, but still hopefully kind of counts as a cover.

And actually...while I'm on that train of thought (see what I did there?), Wind Of Change (Scorpions) featuring Morten Harket.

DuckBilledPlattyJoobs · 24/06/2022 23:58

Nothing Compares To You - Sinead O’Connor

Oldraver · 25/06/2022 00:10

David Gray...Say hello wave goodbye

And yes to Miley Cyrus and Jolene

NippyWoowoo · 25/06/2022 00:11

I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston

Torn - Natalie Imbruglia

When Doves Cry - Quindon Tarver (Romeo & Juliet Soundtrack)

Whiter Shade of Pale - Annie Lennox

The Rose - Leann Rimes

PuppyMonkey · 24/06/2022 21:39

Paul Young’s version of Wherever I Lay My Hat is much better than the original. The way he sings it, you really feel he’s kidding himself and is desperately in love with someone.

Whereas Marvin just sings it like he’s a right git.

Oh yes, 100%

Also The Communards version of Don't Leave Me This Way.
And Seal's Wishing on a Star

Bearsan · 25/06/2022 00:30

Guns n roses - live and let die

winemedown · 25/06/2022 00:49

@Namechangenumber23 first time someone's mentioned Type O on MN? And yes, amazing cover!

Kite22 · 25/06/2022 00:59

UB40's Red, Red, Wine

Whitney Housten's 'I will Always Love You'. I mean, I love a classic Dolly track, but Dolly herself has said that Whitney took that song to another level Smile

Ihaveamagicwand · 25/06/2022 01:17

Tracks of my Tears - Go West

HelloDaisy · 25/06/2022 01:20

Aquamarine1029 · 24/06/2022 20:44

The Sound of Silence by Disturbed.

Definitely the best version. Sends shivers through my spine!

HeidiWhole · 25/06/2022 01:23
