Lidl but there are certain things I prefer in Aldi. I like the Lidl special weeks, especially the Greek week. Lidl bakery is better.

restedbutexhausted · 04/06/2022 16:26

I've never shopped at Aldi but I've recently swapped out Tesco for Lidl as you can't go wrong with their £1.50 fruit and veg boxes.

Treecloudtree · 04/06/2022 16:26

Lidl because their app gets you £12 off a month if you spend £200

I think they can all be hit and miss, we have one Aldi near us everyone avoids its always a mess and only ever seems to have very nearly out of date fruit and veg. We have another Aldi that is brilliant. Our small Lidl you would struggle to get a weekly shop done there, the big Lidl is great. I would just try both and see which one of your local shops you prefer.

ChanceNorman · 04/06/2022 16:26

Aldi for suncream and face cream. Lidl for everything else.

Topseyt123 · 04/06/2022 16:33

The only one particularly near to us is an Aldi, so I mostly go there. I buy non-perishable stuff there mostly because I find their "fresh" fruit and vegetables very hit or miss. I love the Moser Roth chocolate. I also buy soap, shampoo, laundry detergent etc

Lidl is about 10 miles away. If we are out in that direction I like to call in there. It has an in-store bakery which I like. Aldi doesn't have those.

SheSaysShush · 04/06/2022 16:38

Lidl. Free bakery item when the app.

The Greek leek and cheese swirls.

Pythonesque · 04/06/2022 16:45

I have an Aldi closer than a Lidl so use it more, but go to Lidl now and then. In ours I find the Aldi vegetables of better quality than Lidl, but the veg in Lidl where we have use of my mother's cottage are generally great.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 04/06/2022 16:47

Lidl if I had to choose one, but both are great.

TheFairyCaravan · 04/06/2022 16:50

I like Aldi.

I never have a problem with their fruit and veg going off, tbh. I’ve just finished some strawberries that I bought 2 weeks ago and they were absolutely fine still.

Rubyroseyposey · 04/06/2022 16:54

I dont have a lidl near me but I like aldi. I find it much cheaper than asda tesco etc.

ilovemydogandmrobama2 · 04/06/2022 16:57

Shop at both, but tend to do, 'big shop,' at Lidl.

Plus they do Padron Peppers which is great during BBQ season.

FusionChefGeoff · 04/06/2022 17:24

Just switched to Lidl as although our Aldi started click and collect which was great - the Lidl app saves £12 a month as pp said.

FusionChefGeoff · 04/06/2022 17:25

Lidl also does the BEST luxury coleslaw, hash browns and fancy steak cut chips.

ScarlettOHaraHamiltonKennedyButler · 04/06/2022 17:47

I get fruit and veg fron Lidl as it lasts longer but I hate the actual shop our local one is a total mess and filthy, they building a new one so hope it improves as I would like to shop there more.

Aldi for most other things.

Bluevelvetsofa · 04/06/2022 17:52

Our Aldi is less than a year old and clean, spacious and well stocked generally. There’s a Lidl that’s a couple of years old, but doesn’t feel all that clean. So Aldi is where we go.

AnElegantChaos · 04/06/2022 17:52

Lidl for their bakery especially the low GI cob which is delicious.

But I find Aldi has better choice (although Lidl has more brands)

Like someone else has said, Lidl's stores are manky, Aldi's really clean and less cluttered.

LaWench · 04/06/2022 17:56

I like both, Lidl is closer so we tend to go there but I do prefer Aldi, especially the bigger ones. Lidl has stock shortages and empty shelves at the moment whilst Aldi has a lot more choice. I haven't shopped at the big 4 for about 10 years other than the odd speciality item needed.

Crankley · 04/06/2022 17:58

Neither for me. They both feel like shopping in a jumble sale.

JogOnJimmy · 04/06/2022 18:01

Aldi , at least all their baked goods are wrapped
I shall just leave that there …

Belledan1 · 04/06/2022 18:07

I prefer aldi but Lidl by me is less busy and wider aisles so a bit more relaxing walking round.

Treecloudtree · 04/06/2022 16:26

Lidl because their app gets you £12 off a month if you spend £200

How does this work, please?

I have just downloaded the app but I don't see this anywhere.

I spent £90 in Lidl yesterday and have the receipt, am I able to retrospectively add this somehow?

VerifiedBot2351 · 04/06/2022 18:08

Lidl bakery is good, and the app is great with the rewards, but overall I prefer Aldi.

APurpleSquirrel · 04/06/2022 18:10

Aldi for me - just prefer the selection there, & like knowing what's coming up on the Special Buys.

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 04/06/2022 18:14

i only like briache rolls and Briache slice loaf (French bread) in Aldi
