Has anyone used the M&S period pants and are they any good please?
That's it really....
Thanks.

My daughter does. They are good. I am not brilliant at keeping them stain free but do wash them regularly

Needmorelego · 03/06/2022 19:53

Thanks @user1494050295 . I'd probably get dark coloured ones so in theory you wouldn't notice any stains 😂
Bit personal question but how long can she go without needing to change? Do they last the average length school day?

I buy primark ones and obvs wash them after every use . Just get back ones then they don't stain.

Yes very good.
Took a day or two to trust them, now I use them and Primark ones and wouldn't go back to pads or Tampons.
Very comfortable and never had any leaks.

Needmorelego · 03/06/2022 20:07

Thanks @gunnersgold and @Needsomezzzz . I originally was going to try the Primark ones but I have a M&S voucher to use up (I am not a fan of their clothes that much). It's either the pants or overpriced ready meals from the foodhall.

I like them, but not the ones with the stripey waste bands as they dig in

Fitterbyfifty · 03/06/2022 20:14

I use them and dd does too. The absorbency is good but the elastic in the waistband didn't last long. Annoying.

Needmorelego · 03/06/2022 20:14

That's handy advice @Purpleavocado

What’s the VPL situation like with period pants?

user1494050295 · 03/06/2022 21:05

Hi she uses one pair at school and then a different pair in the evening. I do say to her to wear a different brand (thinx) when it is heavier. She also takes in a spare pair as well

MagicMatilda · 03/06/2022 21:07

They are brilliant, would definitely recommend but go for the high absorbency ones.

Bad!

PaddleBoardingMomma · 03/06/2022 21:16

I was put entirely off the marks and Spencer ones after they became entirely fetishised but cross dressing men, who routinely keep leaving reviews like this one that M&S refuse to take down (despite thousands of thumbs down on these reviews) there are some other reviews that are just plain sexualised (by these men) and talk about getting them for young girls for various dubious reasons. I'd personally shop around and find a company that doesn't throw the opinion of actual menstruating women under the bus.

Thanks @user1494050295 . That's good to know.
I don't think she would have VPL problems thankfully. She is all comfy trackies and 'mom' jeans at the moment.

I've heard that WUKA and Modibodi have "no VPL" ones but can't comment on them as I use a period cup and reusable pads.

Bleurgh. Let's hope they come in sealed packs 😵

PaddleBoardingMomma · 03/06/2022 21:24

@BordoisAgain utterly grim isn't it?

Didododo · 03/06/2022 21:26

I wear the M&S ones and I find them great. They’ve been fine for the days I work shorter hours 8-3. No leaks. I wear them with a reusable pad if I need to wear them longer. Just in case.

Might just be an M&S thing, I don’t buy much from there, but they are blooming massive. I had to size down. I got some with matching bras, which I really like.

Noelsjumper · 03/06/2022 21:28

I use them and think they are great. I get extremely heavy flow for the first 24hrs then it calms down, I do find the M&S ones last around 6-8hrs in the first day, but are fine for longer the rest of the time. You can get different flow options and they are very comfy. I prefer them to TU and Primark ones.

trainnane · 03/06/2022 23:06

I often wonder why no one invented these sooner!!

Madcats · 04/06/2022 09:52

DD(14) has teen Modibodis, some M&S briefs and trialled some Uniqlo ones.

I think she prefers the Uniqlo ones. They are bigger, but sleeker. The pad in her Modibodis is quite bulky to my mind.

The M&S ones aren't as large pads and I remember seeing reviews complaining about the pad positioning on some of the styles.

ShinySylveon · 04/06/2022 10:31

I have some but wear them at night as a backup. I haven't dared wear them alone yet. What do you do about washing? I know you have to rinse them but where do you keep them until you put them in the wash?

Madcats · 04/06/2022 11:30

We kept hold of our old lidded nappy buckets, so we use them

Needmorelego · 04/06/2022 11:49

Thanks everyone. I'm going to get some and see how it goes. The idea would be they are mostly used just at school times and use the regular pads at home.

Hi everyone,

Ive just temporarily created an account to post this because it's important.

Some brands of period underwear have been found to have toxic chemicals within them that are linked to significant health impacts like cancer, reproductive problems and disrupting the endocrine sytem, thyroid ect. Things like PFA's (also called 'forever chemicals') that the body absorbs and stores up.

The underwear material is treated with these things for antimocrobial purposes, and things like increasing the absorbancy and moisture wicking properties of them.

This isnt a conspiracy or anything like that. Theres information swirling around at the moment about it. Theyve been tested by independent laboratories. Many brands. Thinx was found to contain one of the highest amounts of PFAs, and has been involved in a lawsuit for it. They advertise them as non-toxic, accesing a loophole somewhere. They got into trouble, and a number of women were involved in the case, who came forward with otherwise unexplained health problems caused by the chemicals in thier underwear.

For accurate information, please google it - there are various docments, and information, test results, and information on the thinx case. As far as i know, all the brands that tested positive, are still that way now. There is a way that they can get away with not advertising this, slipping it through the system somehow. Lots of details on the internet for this. Its becoming more well known.

Lots of brands have been tested and the safe toxic free ones have also been declared. From the top of my head, some of these brands were the period company, aisle, Modibodi, wuka.

Some of you may now know this, but just incase.

As far as M+S and primark go, im not sure about those brands. They are more recent to the industry and so im still searching hard to see if any of them have been tested yet.
