Have You Had Or Would You Consider Plastic Surgery?

When I was younger I was pretty much completely against it, apart from if people were really struggling psychologically & wanted to take action to change that eg nosejobs etc. But now I’m in my 50s, my views are changing. Still wouldn’t go for anything radical but I might consider tweaks like having my under eye bags done, chin lift, brows etc.

Really surprised nobody has responded to this!

I'm also in my 50s and I wouldn't. It's not for me, I'm reasonably comfortable in my own skin.

YourNameIsSen · 31/05/2022 22:59

100% if I could afford it. I've had weight loss surgery and am now very saggy :(

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 31/05/2022 22:59

No.

In every single plastic surgery before and after picture you see they mostly look better before.

There’s few exceptions.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 31/05/2022 23:01

I haven't had any but I'd definitely have Botox and probably something to get rid of eye bags. I'm 31 and I'm starting to notice lines under my eyes.

I have microbladed eyebrows, I don't count that as plastic surgery though.

I wouldn't do anything to my body, I'm not bothered about that.

CrunchyCarrot · 31/05/2022 23:01

I'm mid 60s and no, I wouldn't. I need my hypothyroidism to go away, then I will look better. I don't think any amount of Botox or facelifting will solve that!

That's a matter of personal opinion though. Someone else might think differently to you.

I've had eye surgery - upper eyelids lifted. Best thing I ever did. I can post pictures - the difference really was/is incredible. Had it done nearly 10 years ago now. Surgeon said at the time it would last 10-15 years. Showing no sign of needing to be redone.

I might add, normally I'm quite a low maintenance kind of person. Don't really wear makeup or have my nails done or anything.

HardRockOwl · 31/05/2022 23:02

Oh loads!

Breast reduction (twice!) a tummy tuck, fillers and Botox

And believe it or not, I look normal. Just with a flat stomach and small boobs.

I couldn't care less what other women choose to do or not do with their own bodies and own money so it's not an area of life I tend to judge others for

ChangeUserAgain · 31/05/2022 23:25

not after looking at Amanda Holden last night

Branleuse · 31/05/2022 23:33

I had a boob job, and then i had to get them revised due to slight double bubble and they did a free uplift on me. That was over 10 years ago. They still look fine now though. I hopefully wont need them redone.
Ive had botox a few times too.
If i could afford it, id probably get liposuction and chin lift. I also wouldnt mind getting smaller implants but having another uplift and getting teardrop shape.

Id get my teeth done too

I hope society wakes up and values attributes other than looks.

Fifthtimelucky · 31/05/2022 23:37

I'm early 60s and wouldn't consider it (except in the case of reconstructive surgery after an accident or something similar).

I'm sure I could look more youthful if I had various things done, but I'm not interested in trying to look younger. I'm reasonably happy with how I look.

I'm also a coward, so I would not want to put myself through any unnecessary procedures and would be worried about things going wrong.

fallfallfall · 31/05/2022 23:38

at 60+ i had a breast reduction. wonderful wonderful experience. the saggy boobs were not looking good before and were a real hinderance to physical activity.
i'm now considering dental implants for back molars vs crowns...might be considered cosmetic.
as well as considering a medical facial for age spots.

If u asked me this 2-3 years ago I'd have said yes I'd like to change this and change that. I used to be very self conscious of my appearance, especially weight. I lost above 4st going from 12 and half st to 8st 3, and very much into fitness and health etc..
but since having my first child and going from a tiny toned UK size 8 to a curvy size 12 with a permanently tiger striped, stubborn buldge across my stomach, bags under my eyes and pancake flappy tits.. it's weird but I have changed my perceptions and actually I am quite proud of me now. More than anything, my out of shape stomach reminds me of the beautiful and amazing little boy I grew in there and I would NOT change it for absolutely anything 😌🥰

Love you for yourself not the you that you want others to

Iloveychildrenandmydoggie · 31/05/2022 23:44

I have spent so many hours googling eye lift !! Am seriously considering it …my eye lids are so heavy..even optician has recommended it !! She said she would refer me for NHS care !!

howrudeforme · 31/05/2022 23:51

I’m mid 50’s and still wouldn’t consider. Partly as I hate needles and pain but mainly I don’t really mind ageing (and single with no interest in meeting anyone).

ive noticed that pals who swore against any beauty intervention are now doing it. Possibly because more accessible? No idea.

purplepaintedpineapple · 31/05/2022 23:58

I've had a boob reduction - they were massive and I had deep furrows on my shoulders but I wouldn't have it for cosmetic reasons.

PermanentlyTired03 · 01/06/2022 00:01

If I could afford it I'd have my nose done- it's bumpy from a break and I have a slightly deviated septum. Also babies have sucked the life out my boobs so I'd probably have a lift as well.
Unfortunately the £10k+ that would all cost must go on others things!
I wouldn't judge someone for having surgery I know a few people that have had subtle bits and bobs done and it usually looks great.

Branleuse · 01/06/2022 00:09

Just because someone has cosmetic surgery, doesnt mean they dont value other attributes more.
If I could have surgery to give me a better personality or intellect, id start saving now!
I got my boobs done initially as they stretched so much with huge weight gain in pregnancy and wrecked the skin. Really bad sagging. I hated it so much that i decided after id finished having babies and breastfeeding them, id get sterilised and get my boobs fixed - i really felt like it was reconstructive rather than just improvement.
Im being a bit flippant about the other stuff i said i wanted. I have no intention of getting more done, but i dont have any real issue with people having the odd tweak

Nouveaunew · 01/06/2022 00:12

No .

JanisMoplin · 01/06/2022 00:16

I am 50. I won't consider it. I am not proud of my wrinkles or anything but the alternative is worse. I also come from a family and culture where no one gets surgery. We just look old and tired!

Cocolapew · 01/06/2022 00:34

If I had the money I'd get my upper eyelids done. I've got a wonky nose and a saggy jawline but they don't bother me, only my eyes.

Zpoa · 01/06/2022 00:35

I wouldn't have extensive surgery to my face. Botox or subtle fillers seem okay but I've never had them done.

To the body ? Sure, go ahead, if they fuck up at least you can hide it.

Personally, I'll never have anything done. I'm 50 and completely comfortable in my skin.

Ponderingwindow · 01/06/2022 00:41

I’ve technically had plastic surgery. I had a large growth removed from the bottom of my foot and it had to be done by a plastic surgeon so that my foot could be reconstructed.

would I consider plastic surgery for purely cosmetic purposes? No.

On a general level, I don’t like what it says about society and don’t want to contribute to perpetuating valuing appearance above substance.

on a personal level, i have bad reactions to anesthesia so I am at higher risk of complications. I also now have allergies that make even short necessary visits to the hospital difficult and surgeries especially so, but these are a relatively recent development and my opinion formed before this became a barrier.
