Anyone remember?

Made me terrified as a child 🤣

The one about half cooked sausages on a Bbq.
The one about seatbelts needing fastened.
The one about not climbing pylons.
The one about smoking.
The one about crossing the roads.
The one about STDs.
The one about drugs.

All in primary school.

All with the message "IF YOU DO THIS YOU WILL DIE"

I still daren't walk through a field with a pylon in it 😂 though it never stopped me smoking at 13.

Oh well.

I vividly remember the “in the summertime” drink driving advert too.

When I was at primary school we had a fire safety team come in to teach us what to do in a house fire, they had a portakabin set up like a living room and we all had to practice getting down and crawling through it. They put the fear of God into me about how leaving appliances on standby instead of unplugging them can cause a fire, I had trouble sleeping for months in case my parents forgot to unplug things before bed or even our neighbours through the wall and the fire would spread to our house.

These weren't just shown at schools, they were adverts on prime time television.
The one that scared me was the little girl who burnt her hand with a sparkler.

Didn't Hale and Pace do an advert that was done in song?
I didn't hold a sparkler until I was 13 because of those adverts 😂 and I would only do it then with two pairs of gloves on and held it at arms length! I put it into the sand bucket in the garden but then had this terrifying fear that I might decide to go back and pick one up from the hot end!

I expected secondary school was going to be a constant stream of older children trying to make me try cigarettes or drugs! I was very annoyed at about 15 when I realised I would have to actively seek these things out Grin
