They want to watch something they call “Gish”. It’s not fish (so not finding nemo, etc). It’ll either be something on Disney+, Netflix or BBC iPlayer, but I’m at a loss about what it is! All the ones I have suggested so far are not it, so any help would be great, thanks!

Could it not be the name of a programme but them repeating you saying ‘do you want to watch THIS’ and them thinking the programme is called ‘this’ or ‘gish’

I know you have finally worked out the programme but you should start being more careful as that pp is quite correct, sadly.

My 2yr daughter was offered a bite of a nougat bar, she wanted too but didn't want the soft almond nuts in it so dithered around. In the end we said do you want it or not? She said she wanted not and got very upset when we put it away. Nougat bars are forever known as "not" in our house. No idea what she thought "it" was.

I was also going to say it sounds like they’re saying “this”. Do they make a “sh” sound for “s” in other words?

I had this with my eldest when she was little. She wanted 'pino' it took me a while but I realised I had asked what she wanted one day for pudding then said 'I know' and went and got her a milky bar yoghurt thing, she thought it was then called a pino!

It must be a specific episode of something. My 2.5 year old loves Numberblocka and asks to watch "tickle tickle" in which they tickle each other with a feather. At first I was very confused but my 7 year old translated for me!

So not wine then 😁

And then you forget not everyone calls it that and get confused looks when you're out and about... Or is that just me 😂

Love this thread! My toddler, who is only just starting to say the odd word, says 'dee-da' ALL the time. I thought I'd cracked it and figured out she was hungry and asking for dinner but it seems to be universal and means literally everything. She points at the Echo Dot and shouts "dee-da!" for us to ask Alexa to play children's songs. Same with the TV if that's switched off. Drink? Dee-da. Toys? Dee-da. Wants a story? Dee-da!

When she was tiny she used to say ra-ra a lot. It developed into 'ya-ya' and finally 'mama'. Even now it's quite rare she says 'mama'!

If only babies were born with instruction manuals!

DS used to ask for “dad dad circus” all the time. Eventually about a year later I clicked that he wanted to watch Madagascar 3 and was talking about theAfro circus scene

Oh well done! I had a similar thing where my toddler nagged me for days to watch "deeba" and after a LOT of searching turned out it was "Eeva" from Wall-E...
