Bloody hell.

I would allege that his ‘wacky’ performance indicates he was off his actual tits. Whether high on life, or something else, I really couldn’t say…

I actually spat my tea out there, laughing

Skinterior · 11/05/2022 18:06

Isn't that just what he's always like?

Swayingpalmtrees · 11/05/2022 18:11

It was a very camp and jovial performance no question, I wonder if he has been trying out for panto for this Christmas?

LaethantaSaoire · 11/05/2022 18:16

Oh my that Joe video !Shock

I'd not seen this - not sure what he's on here! I'll always remember when he was making his bid to become prime minister/party leader after David Cameron resigned and he stabbed Boris Johnson in the back. I highly suspected he was coked up then, he drank massive amounts of water during his speech and was sweating profusely. (There were other reasons too, but these were clues).
I'm Not a teacher but agree with them he was horrible as Education Minister.

We just don't have a .....'viable' government, do we?

Zilla1 · 11/05/2022 20:15

@Classica exactly. Practical advice again from the government. There seems to be no end to the example the government can set. I hope it's not going to take a young MP to spend a week living off the equivalent of universal credit to set an example and show everyone how generous benefits are in the UK and demonstrate just how much the government cares.

I can't stand Gove but I'm sceptical that anyone reckless enough to do live TV off his tits on coke on a weekday morning would be able to function as a cabinet minister - even in Boris' cabinet. Tory HQ is pretty ruthless - if he were that much of a hopeless addict, they would (metaphorically) have handled him the loaded revolver and the glass of whisky by now.

In any other government, I'd agree. But this is a cabinet that includes the likes of Dorries, Raab and Patel, to say nothing of Johnson himself. I'm really not convinced that he'd appear that different from his colleagues.

As you say, a government of all the talents. That said, Mr Gove is reknown when on form and able to think on his feet during R4 interviews and answer questions rather than just repeat a line, not that I'm saying the others just say the same answer again and again and again and again when the interviewer is obviously being political and asking the same question just to make some point. Mr Gove presumably thought the questions required some form of popular culture impression to illustrate his point and help those without his accelerated brains to understand the richness of thought behind government policy. As with Brexit and NI, those with limited intellectual capacity might struggle to understand how it's all the EU's fault without Liz Truss and others to help explain it. And how to avoid a recession, reducing Civil Service waste is essential. Obvious, I suppose.
