Sneezing and wetting yourself ffs

I'm 43.

Ffs sneezed violently a few times and a slight bit of wee came out. Ffs. Is this my life now.

@PlasticineMeg quite worrying the replies on here trying to normalise incontinence rather than seeking professional help!

The women’s physio did nothing for me, she just kept giving me more and more pelvic floors.
Cutting down on caffeine helps, I’m definitely worse if I have a caffeinated coffee.

Then find a new one!

DeskInUse · 03/05/2022 07:12

don't 'for the love of god' have a go at trampolining

Mol1628 · 03/05/2022 07:17

This has been me since I turned 30!

Cant be too far away from a toilet either and have to make sure I don’t drink when going on a car journey. My bladder is totally fucked.

Muststopeating · 03/05/2022 07:21

Oh god!!! I had a terrible cough for 4 months of both of my last 2 pregnancies. It was horrific. Particularly enjoyed puking and peeing simultaneously. What a bloody mess.

But I do accept that now I'm not pregnant its not okay to not be able to sneeze/jump/run in confidence. Am hoping to invest in one of those pelvic exerciser things but oofty are they expensive!

LowbrowVictoriana · 03/05/2022 07:33

Yep, I'm also a cross-the-legs-quick sneezer... as soon as I get a tickle in my nose I adopt the position! And yes, trampolines are best avoided! But otherwise my stress incontinence seems to have improved a bit over the last few years, and I run most days without a problem. Perhaps it's exercise generally that has helped?

Anyway, PPs are right: incontinence is NOT just something to put up with, despite the "just a little bit of wee" culture that NHS stinginess and Tena marketing would like to normalise. A friend of mine has some sort of "electric pants" (as she describes them!) which cost her £300+. Apparently French women get them free when needed! She recommends them, so that's what I'll be buying when things just just a little worse for me.

Can I just point out that, despite what the TENA adverts tell us, it’s NOT normal to piss yourself at the age of 43, do pelvic floor exercises or seek medical help.

Thank you! I'm 52 and don't wee when I sneeze, cough or laugh.

Why, what did the physio do or say, @Ireallymustgetup ?

I can't speak for @Ireallymustgetup but when I saw a physio for pelvic floor issues she said it should be seen as a whole body issue and so although kegels (which I was already doing) were a part of it I should also be focusing on realigning my upper body and breathing. It made an enormous difference quite quickly.

mummyof3.1986 · 03/05/2022 07:46

I'm 36 and I've been like this for 5 years since my 3rd child was born! Embrace the life 🤣🤣 pantyliners from here on out!

HoppingPavlova · 03/05/2022 11:35

PatientlyWaiting21 what makes you think many have not sought medical opinion/assistance? What makes you think this CAN be addressed with everyone?

Personally for myself, it’s not a case of not seeking assistance or a stingy health system. I was even prepared to pay privately for whatever could be done. Sometimes, there’s literally nothing that can be done, or a case of ‘the fix’ potentially creating more issues especially if meshes etc are required.

outnumbered77 · 03/05/2022 13:34

Squeezy app is good for pelvic floor exercises. But also period pants when I have a cold 😬

Do midwives nag about pelvic floor exercises now? I've had 4 big babies, 9lb plus. one being a difficult delivery with forceps and I'm nearly 70 and don't need Tena yet. I do remember being fed up of the nagging but bless them now. Is it just luck or are the pelvic floor exercises really that good.

One of their tips was do it at the bus stop and don't waste that time. I used to laugh but I still do it now.

These are meant to be good. www.currentbody.com/collections/tenscare

Menacingvern12 · 03/05/2022 14:31

I bought the face and body one off tkmaxx.com www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/search?st=Tenscare&sort=publishedDate-desc&facets=stockLevelStatus:inStock&page=0 and will just buy the £13 attachment.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 03/05/2022 14:39

Pelvic floor exercises. That is what helped me. I do mine twice a day when I’m brushing my teeth. The strength and the amount depends on the best of the music I play while brushing my teeth. Sometimes I play something fast and I can’t keep up 😂

Blossomtoes · 03/05/2022 14:49

JacquelineCarlyle · 02/05/2022 23:16

I do this. It's the only thing that works.

And mine. 😢

RomeoOscarXrayIndigoEcho · 03/05/2022 17:50

The way we've been taught to do pelvic floor exercises is wrong.

Find Gusset Gripper on social media and follow her.

You need to lift your bum muscle as though you are stopping the world's smelliest fart when in a lift with the world's sexiest man/woman (whatever floats your boat).

Do it now. 10 times. Then again and hold for the count of 10.

It works.

generalh · 03/05/2022 17:57

I broke up a fight in school and peed myself. Had to go to the shops to buy clean clothes and something to clean myself with. Embarrassing.

AffIt · 03/05/2022 17:58

This is a really sad thread.

Can you imagine if men routinely pissed themselves from a very young age (I think one PP on here is 30) when carrying out normal, everyday activities or bodily functions?

Women's healthcare is a disaster.

90sBritPop · 03/05/2022 18:03

This happens to me and I haven’t even had children. I have endometriosis on my bladder and since having it removed for some reason I apparently can’t sneeze without feeling a little wee coming out 😭

I had no idea this was menopause related. I have had to run - and i mean RUN - a few times and once i actually couldnt get home in time. I thought i had a UTI because i
had c sections for all DC so i felt a fraud blaming pelvic floor etc.
