Hi all
hoping to move house in a few months. Have space utility for a tumble dryer. How long does it take for condenser dryer to do a normal load? Thanks

Mine seems happy at ninety minutes.

Mol1628 · 01/05/2022 18:51

Light fabrics like t shirts shirts kids clothes can be done in about 45 mins (full load)

Thick denim jeans, hoodies etc longer. But I don’t think any of it takes longer than two hours.

CornishGem1975 · 01/05/2022 18:51

Depends on what size is a normal load I guess. When it's very full probably about 2.5 hours, smaller load will be less.

PlantingTrees · 01/05/2022 18:53

45 mins

FoggySpecs · 01/05/2022 18:54

I have a newish one, Indesit nothing fancy and 70 minutes for a really big load. It isn't the most energy efficient but it is good. I keep it super clean.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 01/05/2022 18:55

2 single sets of bedding in 50 minutes.
I empty the water and the filter after every load

Bathroom2022 · 01/05/2022 18:57

Probably 90 mins. Am just using it to finish stuff off now though due to the cost.

FairyCakeWings · 01/05/2022 18:57

The only things I ever dry completely are towels, and they take just over an hour. Longer if I’ve been slack and not cleared out the lint filter, because if there’s anything at all in there it seems to take longer. I try to only start things off in the dryer and then hang to finish off, both to save energy and because it’s better for fabrics.

DockOTheBay · 01/05/2022 18:58

An hour or so?

Pegasaurus · 01/05/2022 19:00

I've got a new heat pump one....it literally takes hours (between 3 and 4!) My old non heat pump basic model used to take an hour, massively regret "upgrading" when I needed to replace.

I was going to type exactly the same 😀

What is a normal load? Mine has programmes between about 2.5hrs and under 1 hour but it totally depends on what I put in and how wet the land is. I have no idea what a normal amount of time would be. It beeps when it's done, that's all I need to know 😀

Yarnasaurus · 01/05/2022 19:05

60-90 minutes I'd guess.

BlueThursday · 01/05/2022 19:08

I got a new Samsung last summer and a load will set time for 3 hours 28 but it recalculates throughout the cycle

kimfox · 01/05/2022 19:08

I'm sure it all depends on what brand / how old / how much you put in and how much water the fabric holds. A full load of towels (ie a full washing machine load) would be about 90 mins in mine but a load of sports kit would be far less than that - maybe 35 mins!

Badger1970 · 01/05/2022 19:10

Towels or bedding take a maximum of 60 minutes...... we've got a Zanussi 8kg one. It's incredibly efficient.

Icebear99 · 01/05/2022 19:11

I’ve got a sharp heat pump condenser and it takes about 1hr 20 for a full normal load to dry, no jeans in there though

SpaghettiSquash · 01/05/2022 20:25

My heat pump condenser takes about 3.5 hours.

NoMoreJobs · 01/05/2022 20:29

My heat pump condenser dryer takes just shy of 3 hours but is so much cheaper than our older, faster one. It was well worth spending more now that electricity prices are through the roof.

Isitcake · 01/05/2022 20:31

About an hour. I love my candy one. It senses when the load is dry and stops.

SoManyTshirts · 01/05/2022 20:32

45 minutes, 60 minutes for a full load (cotton) on high heat. On the lower heat setting it probably takes half as long again. Cheapie model … exactly the same as the previous one which lasted many years.

WoodenClock · 01/05/2022 20:33

My old one, about two and a half hours but I've just replaced it and provided you don't over fill, 30 mins is pretty good and and hour for a proper load, so I think things have moved on.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 01/05/2022 20:34

Just did a full load, mixed stuff so some jeans. Some fleece blankets, school uniform for DD, a right mixed bag and a very full 8kg washing machine drum.

Took 2hrs 15 minutes to dry, would have taken a bit less if I'd have remembered to do an extra spin cycle on the washing machine before putting it in the dryer, which I do usually try to do to get it as dry as possible.

CasatnaKlimp · 01/05/2022 20:36

I have a Beko 9kg condenser sensor tumble dryer and an 8kg 1400 spin washing machine. The spin speed on the washing machine can make a huge difference to tumble drying times. My original 1200 spin Bosch died and couldn't be repaired. Replaced it with a 1400 spin machine and saw an immediate difference in tumble drying times. The Beko is a B rated machine.

A load with t shirts and a few pairs of joggers will take around 45mins to 1 hour. Usually 50 minutes on average. Towels will take 1 hour.

Discovereads · 01/05/2022 20:37

My A++ energy efficient heat pump condenser dryer takes 45mins to do 8kg to the Extra Dry setting.

BUT I also have a A++ energy efficient washer with 1800rpm spin cycle so the clothes are only damp when I put them in the tumble dryer.

How long really also depends on what energy efficiency rating your appliances have and which features you use. I could dry for shorter time to iron dry or cupboard dry and the clothes would be not be extra dry but slightly damp. I could put my washer on 1200rpm spin cycle and the clothes would be more wet going into the dryer, making the drying phase take longer.

Haffdonga · 01/05/2022 20:39

Our new heat pump condenser dryer takes at least 3 times longer than our old outside vented one. At least 3 hrs for a towel load and 1.5 for a load of 'smalls'.
