When you hear the word Colin...

Does it mean anything other than a name?
DH has asked. He had a friend years ago who used it to mean an erection. I have never heard this.
Was it just his friend's made up 'thing' or was it actually a use of the name?
DH is not called Colin and they didn't know a Colin.

My lovely friend is married to a lovely Colin. He's the only one I know personally. I know of Firth and Farrell (and the caterpillar). Not many around in my world.

Meaning an erection is a new one on me. That shall be used forevermore

fallfallfall · 23/04/2022 00:36

@Kite22 , you did a much better job than me at typing out the pronunciation and yes it was a weird Coal-in not quite Col-on
and the nicer version is Col (like collar)-in.

Caterpillar shaped chocolate cake.

Neil Warnock, ex-manager of Sheffield United and many other clubs. Universally known by football fans as ‘Colin Wanker’, an anagram of his name.

My dad & pollock because it's a long running family joke ever since we found out that Colin is French for pollock.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 23/04/2022 00:39

Definitely caterpillar but that's no bad thing!!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 23/04/2022 00:40

Isn't it hake? Are they the same? I don't eat fish anyway...

Bit yes, fish is what I also think of with Colin. After 🐛

LargeInCharge · 23/04/2022 00:59

Ricky Gervais saying “Colin, Colin, Colin” to his cat.

Leeds2 · 23/04/2022 01:00

In footballing terms, Colin is usually used to refer to the manager Neil Warnock. So I think of him.
Secondly, I would think of the cake.
I have never heard it used as your DH's friend describes it.

UhtredsLatestPaganHussy · 23/04/2022 01:03

Colin sounds like the dreariest little erection

at least call it, Bruno, or something else with a bit of heft.

Right?

My best friend’s from uni days called his Conan (the Barbarian). Oh, how we laughed. But even Conan is significantly better than Colin.

NurseBernard · 23/04/2022 01:11

Sorry - best friend’s ex…

Mothership4two · 23/04/2022 01:14

Mothership4two · 23/04/2022 01:15

MargaretThursday · 23/04/2022 09:14

I know several Colins, all pronounce it Coll-in.

I would think of the caterpillar cake though.

saggyhairyass · 23/04/2022 09:18

Colin Bridgerton, from the Netflix Show, Caterpillars. Never heard of getting a Colin though.

balalake · 23/04/2022 09:35

It's a name for me. A friend's late father (may he rest in peace).
