Washing pyjamas

Was just packing to go away and thought- people who wash PJs every day- what do you do on holiday? Do you take enough PJs for a new set every night on holiday? And take massive suitcases. Or do you spend your time washing?

And if you usually wash towels every day do you also do that on holiday?

(In my family we wear PJs for a week, unless very hot and sweaty, and use towels for a week too)

@Parkmama

Are there people out there that use a towel once and wash it?!! We each have a towel in our family and I wash them weekly so they get used at least 7 times and dried in between. Is that really gross?!!
I think the one use towel washers are unusual.

Question for every day PJ washers : if you were to sleep naked, would you wash the bedding every day? Because it's exactly the same, no?

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 21/04/2022 21:30

I used to wear pyjamas for a week but as I shower in the morning only they started to smell.

I now wear the t-shirt that I wore during the day in bed as well. It saves washing and is better for the planet.

I don't see the point in putting on something new for bed.

Some of the responses here are hilarious 😂 and so judgemental!

I personally use about 2 sets of nightwear a week. I only ever put them onto my clean body, so don't feel they are particularly dirty after one wear.

The same can be said for towels; only used to remove moisture from my clean body, and hung to dry, so I certainly see no need for a clean one each day!

I go on holiday to escape my daily routine, so I certainly avoid doing washing while I'm away. Sometimes when the kids were little it was unavoidable though.

They get up in the middle of the night to change the sheets - they absolutely reek after four hours.

.

No, it's not the same. The fit of pyjamas on a body is nothing like lying on/under a sheet of material.

ImInStealthMode · 21/04/2022 22:02

@crackingreward Well it's a bit like it, arguably. All that toxic sebum and skin cells and stink has to go somewhere? If not into the pyjamas then surely onto the sheets?

AngelaRayner4PM · 21/04/2022 22:02

I never sleep naked. If I did I imagine I would wash my bedding more, but not as often as my pyjamas. I don't see pyjamas as different from day clothes. I wear new clothes every day (except for jeans or a cardigan maybe) and I wear different pyjamas every night (except for maybe wearing the same pyjama bottoms or sleep cardigan a second night if they are still clean and fresh smelling).

AngelaRayner4PM · 21/04/2022 22:04

Pyjamas are basically like underwear or sportswear to me, something which gets a bit sticky, sweaty and smelly. Something which is always better clean and fresh a new set each time.

RampantIvy · 21/04/2022 22:06

Wear a nightie instead. It can last a week.

D0lphine · 21/04/2022 22:07

Sleep naked and save yourself the washing haha

honeybushbunch · 21/04/2022 22:13

I only ever really wear knickers and an old t-shirt in bed! I do put on fresh knickers and a fresh T-shirt each night though, but they are usually very thin old soft T-shirts that pack up small, so for a week away 7 x extra pants and T-shirts doesn’t take up too much space. They’re also easy to wash and dry during the week if I’m going somewhere with a washing machine and want to take less. If I’m going to be pottering around I just take a thin dressing gown as well.

My T-shirts for bed are often so old and much-washed that they’ve got hold in them, but they’re so soft and comfy that I keep them until they’re basically falling apart 😂

honeybushbunch · 21/04/2022 22:13

*holes in them!

nervousgiggler · 21/04/2022 22:53

This is hilarious, if you are in camp "I wash them once a week" you can be trumped by holier-than-thou team "wash after every wear" but then you can turn it back on them by enquiring just what foul secretions are emerging from their bodies that mean they have to wash anything that comes into contact with their skin immediately 🍿 😂

KilmordenCastle · 21/04/2022 23:02

I wear pj bottoms 3/4 times before washing them (I wear clean knickers under them) but my pj top has to be fresh every night. Even though I am freshly showered and put deodorant on before bed, the armpits of my pj tops would be gross after a couple of wears. Can't imagine wearing them for a week 😬

RampantIvy · 21/04/2022 23:20

If you are sweating that excessively at night it could be a symptom of a health issue @KilmordenCastle.

What if you wear knickers underneath? I shower before I sleep and I don't get sweaty during my sleep either.

@Nelliephant1

I only book places that have laundry facilities, nothing worse than coming home with a case of dirty washing. Also wouldn't wear pjs or use towels for a week. I've just finished folding 34 towels from the last towel wash that was done on Sunday and there's another pile in the machine as we speak. 😄
Is that a weeks worth and how many loads??

I don't think it's excessive sweating. I've sweated the same since I was old enough to start sweating 😆

I mean, the armpits wouldn't stink of BO but they certainly wouldn't be clean and I wouldn't want to wear the top again.

trainnane · 21/04/2022 23:56

I wash stuff when it looks grubby. PJs around once a week or it's been hit.Towels prob every 2 weeks as only used briefly once a day.
I have a job and not all day to do washing
