M&S knickers

64 replies

gelatodipistacchio · 17/04/2022 16:09

I have not bought any new knickers in at least 3 years and I think it's time!

I have often seen M&S knickers recommended here.

What are your favourite styles and why?

Tyia!

@woodhill

They used to be so much better

My go to from M&S was the high rise short in cotton trimmed with lace, some lasted 10 years' but now most of the pants are not cotton or low rise

I used to get those M&S ones but changed to flexifit shorts which are amazingly comfortable and look good...well in a sporty sort of way anyway...

Pressed "post" too soon. I don't understand the comments about them being thin. Why would you want thick knickers? we are talking underwear here, not overcoats.

HappyThursdays · 17/04/2022 17:52

I also have the flexfit ones - won't wear anything else now. They are so so comfy.

It looks like there are loads of Flexifit options. I would usually go for a thong. What's the preferred cut???

M&S knickers are not what they once were.
I bought some from Yours last year and I am pretty impressed with them. They are lasting well and the elastic is still firmly attached.

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 17/04/2022 18:04

M+S now make their women’s knickers for men (just check the reviews that get through their approval process Confused).

EatSleepReplete · 17/04/2022 18:05

@StarlightLady it's not thick knickers that we want, it's knickers that don't develop a hole within a couple of washes, or start to come apart from the elastic, or where the fabric starts to disintegrate & lose its integrity within a few months just through normal use.

Oh, and 100% cotton please. Accidentally bought a non-cotton pack a few weeks ago, they were acrylic or something. And they had no hems around the lower edges, just the raw cut edge of the nasty fabric. WTF, Morrisons!?

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

I like their Flexifit ones. They're not pretty but they are very comfortable!
I agree.

So what? If men want to wear them, let them. Nobody would bat an eyelid if a woman chose to wear boxers.
StarlightLady · 17/04/2022 18:10

It's time to bust the cotton myth. Holes are caused by lack of stretch. 100% cotton does not stretch. Stretch lace moves with you and the fabric breathes because it is made of lots of tiny holes.

Avoid the multi packs and you can check what you are actually buying too.

KittenKong · 17/04/2022 18:13

Fruit of the loom do some without seams down the side which are really comfy. I’m not being helpful but I buy them in multipacks when I go to the states.

wishitwasaduvetday · 17/04/2022 18:17

Agree, M&S used to do great underwear, now it's pretty crap quality for the price you're paying. I do still get the multipack of black cottons high rise but they're not great quality. I need to look else where but can't be bothered!

woodhill · 17/04/2022 18:18

I find the holes develop on the waistband where the lace joins itms on one side

DorritLittle · 17/04/2022 18:23

Surprisingly vehement comments about M&S pants... I have had them for years, including recently. Not sure what can go so terribly wrong with cotton pants. Just get the style you'll find most comfortable!

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 17/04/2022 18:27

Anatomically speaking, it matters. Their pants are very baggy at the front, I find.

SmellyOldOwls · 17/04/2022 18:33

I bought two packs of M&S minis not so long ago and they don't stay up?! They just fall down my bum and legs. They're my usual size so I have no idea what's happening. They used to be fine. I also found Tesco seamless briefs like to try and roll off my body Confused luckily I have a Dunnes nearby so I got a pack of their full briefs and they're wonderful.

2pinkginsplease · 17/04/2022 18:35

@ImInStealthMode

Most of mine are M&S microfibre in the shorts style.

They're comfy, wash well, dry fast. What's not to like?

I bought these in the high waited and they are great on. Always buy M&S knickers, only wish they would stop putting the frilly elastic around the side.
Blone · 17/04/2022 18:37

M&S knickers are really shoddy quality now. They don't last as long, the fabric is thin and cheap and safe after a few washes. I'm talking about the full cotton briefs.

HomeprideSaucy · 17/04/2022 18:41

@LaurieFairyCake

I've the M and S midi ones with the lace top

Not remotely thin, last ages

Yes I have just bought some of these. I think they were called "lace top midis". I went up a size (sssh, don't tell anyone) and they are a good compromise between comfy and sexy.
gelatodipistacchio · 17/04/2022 18:53

I think that I will go check out the loose m&s knickers in store and assess. My other option is to spend a bomb at Intimissimi, where they have my favourite knickers ever (laser cut thongs). The Flexifit look like maaaybe they could be similar (seamless with no VPL), but probably have to see them in person to know for sure

OP posts:
gelatodipistacchio · 17/04/2022 18:53

@HomeprideSaucy i usually go up a size to avoid muffin top effect. Knickers is one area where squeezing into a vanity size is sheer folly.

The issue with M&S multipack cotton knickers is the frickin' ugly colours/patterns

Housewife2010 · 17/04/2022 19:08

I used to wear M&S but now I really recommend the multi packs of John Lewis Anyday full briefs. 5 pairs for £8, they are very comfortable and last very well.
