How much has your DD gone up by?

Devo1818 · 14/04/2022 17:28

EDF have emailed me to say my DD has gone up but haven't said by how much and when I log in to find out it says it can't load my data. So no idea what to budget this month.

Current - £122 per month, both gas and electric
3 bed semi, family of 4 (5 and 3 year old).

Place your bets please!

@Devo1818

I will post when I eventually find out but will budget £250. These numbers are crazy, I don't understand how they are getting away with it.
Because what would we do about it?
Plantsandpuddlesuits · 14/04/2022 19:20

Ours has gone from £125 to £240

In the last six years she's gone from 6 to 12. But that's pretty much correct, isn't it? Confused

Hilarious.

Very confusing and unexpectedly mine has gone down by around £20 per month. I have no idea why. We are on one of those monthly payments, so can only assume we've been overpaying. We are with British Gas.

OdeToSadDisco · 14/04/2022 19:59

Similar circumstances here. Family of 4 in London. 4 bed semi but one bedroom is in loft conversion. Ours bas just gone up from £118 to £199.

gamerchick · 14/04/2022 19:59

You'll get a letter.

I'm with EDF and mine hasn't, but I froze us most of the winter. If I had heated the house it would have gone up a fair bit. Dreading next winter.

Put it on Christmas day though. Twas Christmas after all.

Skade · 14/04/2022 20:02

I think I win so far. 4 adults in a 3 bedroom bungalow- EDF have increased my DD from £120 to £529 :(

shabbalabba · 14/04/2022 20:05

I'm in Ireland and mine hasn't gone up at all...yet!

jlpartnerrs · 14/04/2022 20:05

Octopus - we were on SVR = 270 to 670

gamerchick · 14/04/2022 20:07

Because what would we do about it?

Arrange a standing order instead of a DD to what you can pay and arrange to pay off the balance at the end of the quarter. None of this estimated stuff.

DancingChairs · 14/04/2022 20:08

£300 from £200, but my smart meter is saying we're "only" spending about £160 a month, so I'll be querying that increase soon.

weekend2021 · 14/04/2022 20:08

@dementedpixie

It’s SVR. Only been with them about 6 months since my last supplier went under. I’m currently in debit by £73. Going to leave it as it is for now - so long as a I can continue to afford it! Hopefully will build up some credit over the coming months.

XVGN · 14/04/2022 20:11

You haven't got to accept their suggestion, Work out how much you are likely to use at the current rates and YOU decide how much to pay them.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 14/04/2022 20:13

Ours has gone up about £50.

Just make sure you submit regular meter readings.

itsjustnotok · 14/04/2022 20:23

In Feb DH got excited that we were £400 in credit. ‘What shall we do with the money’ he asked me. He had a list (golf related for the most part). I told him to leave it, stressing to leave. Thank god he listened. It will get used up quickly but at least the increase won’t hit quite as hard.

ShortShinyBobbafett · 14/04/2022 20:25

Mine has gone from £126 to £224.

RosstopherGeller · 14/04/2022 20:28

We're already paying £252 but £500 in credit, so they've said (Octopus) I don't need to increase yet.

littlebird2 · 14/04/2022 20:31

We are exactly the same as you. 3 bed, 2 dc. Current £122, new dd £215. Scottish power 😕

MrsRhodes · 14/04/2022 20:35

Mine went up in Feb and almost doubled. Small end terrace. 4 of us and I'm at home day. It is now £250 a month (we have a smart meter but I am almost £300 in credit after last bill! Hmm)

MrsRhodes · 14/04/2022 20:35

Should have said I'm woth SSE.

MrsPear · 14/04/2022 20:37

I don’t understand why anyone pays direct debit? I pay quarterly- last bill 04/04 was £420 for electric and gas. 3 bed house. I have smart meter so check monthly snd set aside

WonderingWanda · 14/04/2022 20:38

Ours has gone from £188 to £276. 3 bed semi detatched. Standard dual fuel tarriff with Scottish Power.

CPL593H · 14/04/2022 20:39

Eon £89 last year-then £139 Jan-now £189. I can see it going much higher.

Small house, husband long term ill and feels cold even when it isn't, so am trying to keep his room at the level of the Inferno he prefers and cut back elsewhere, but I'm not sure how much good turning off radiators elsewhere does. Loads of washing, loads

I feel very very sorry for people who will really struggle with these increases.

I get paid monthly so it helps to have monthly bills rather than set money aside. It is also the same amount summer and winter.
