What room do you spend the most time in?

Just that really… what room in your home do you spend the most time in? I’d say for me it’s the kitchen. With three kids it’s definitely the place I’m usually in either doing cooking/cleaning/washing dishes/laundry.

What about you?

It’s the sitting room for me but only one child at home now who is an adult and I’m retired.

I remember those days of being mainly in the kitchen DS threw his pudding across the kitchen as a toddler once all up the wall. The endless clothes washing, the sports kits, the school lunch boxes.

DS still plays in two football teams but I have nothing to do with kits anymore. In fact he cooked dinner last night as his Dad was very late home from work. DH worked overseas often till the pandemic hit so he did stuff when around but was often just not there, I was working full time then as well.

Sitting room for me too.

Amdone123 · 01/04/2022 15:04

I spend quite a lot of time in my bedroom. It's smaller and therefore, cosier, than my sitting room, which is open plan and quite cold. I'm comfier in my bedroom, and so is the dog !

lucysmam · 01/04/2022 15:21

Definitely my kitchen. I'm sitting here now, crocheting a t-rex for my friend's ds.

I like my spot at the table - I can spread everything I want to use out around me.

I have ME and tend to spend a lot of time in or on the bed because of it, so when not watching TV or reading in the living room with DH (which we don't do every evening), I'm usually in the bedroom. Bed's a more comfortable place to sit with my feet up (which helps the fatigue) than the sofa, plus I do a lot of creative writing and find bed the most comfortable/warmest place to do it.

My study. I wfh and have work laptop equipment set up in there but also my own computer. My sewing machine and other crafty type stuff is all in there and half of my clothes in a dresser.

oreo2020 · 01/04/2022 16:18

My bedroom. My living room is permanently occupied by my kids playing PS5 and other things

DearlyBeloathed · 01/04/2022 16:23

Bedroom! I just find it more cosy and comfortable, plus the tv is bigger in there.

Maverick66 · 01/04/2022 16:25

Kitchen

midsomermurderess · 01/04/2022 16:39

My sitting room. But if it's cold and I want to save on heating, my bedroom.

forevertired12 · 01/04/2022 16:43

Living room but then again my kitchen is tiny so couldn't really spend much time there. Wish I could spend it all in my bedroom but with 2 young kids, the fun and games occur mainly in the living room

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 01/04/2022 17:08

Kitchen/family room. It’s south facing, sunny and there’s a corner sofa.

Want2beme · 01/04/2022 17:25

Kitchen for me. I like my bedroom, but haven't got a sofa in there. Do you rest on your beds, those who spend most time in your bedroom?

petridishmystery · 01/04/2022 17:29

My bedroom - I live with DM and she spends most of her time in the lounge but if we are not watching TV together I’ll be in my bedroom altho I want to turn my sister’s old room into a second lounge for me at some point.

Yes I sit on my bed to read or watch stuff on my iPad
ThatsNotItAtAll · 01/04/2022 17:35

Living room.

We have a laundry room in the basement so laundry is completely unrelated to the kitchen. I cook and eat in the kitchen. The kids (teens and pre teen) are in charge of the dishwasher/ washing up and each cook once per week.

Our bedroom only contains a bed, two bedside tables and a chest of drawers, not even our wardrobes (they're in a weird kind of through room / wide corridor leading to our bedroom) and no TV or bookshelves or seating.

The whole family mostly hangs around in the living room rather than bedrooms or kitchen most of the time, even the teens, although they do also use the office which has a games console and Netflix sometimes when DH isn't working. I work outside the home - not a home office type job.

Adeleskirts · 01/04/2022 17:37

I only cook really in the kitchen and we eat in there often, so it’s the living room for me.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/04/2022 17:38

Lounge (I wfh in here too). It’s large though and my desk in tucked away at the top end in a sort of alcove.
Hopefully once it’s warmed up I can go back into the Conservatory.

crimsonlake · 01/04/2022 17:41

Another one who spends lots of time in the bedroom. I now live alone and when I get in from work my lounge takes forever to heat up so I put the heating on up there and actually feel the benefit of it quite quickly.

Svara · 01/04/2022 17:41

Probably sitting room, kitchen is just for cooking, no table or seating. Though now with the heating off I am starting to take breakfast to my bedroom as it gets the morning sun when the sitting room is cold and dark, sitting room is nice in the afternoon and evening. Cats worked that out long before me!

DramaAlpaca · 01/04/2022 17:44

Either the kitchen or the little sitting room just off it.

This is me too.
Lightning020 · 01/04/2022 17:52

Up in my bedroom. 17 yr old ds has his ps4 in the lounge and we just have the one reception room. My room is lovely and large and v relaxing. If I am doing work admin when ds is home I use a chair by the bed.

Crunchymum · 01/04/2022 17:58

Kitchen for me. I use my kitchen table to WFH (3 days per week) but with 3 young kids there is always something that needs doing in the kitchen Grin

  • kids aren't home on my work days but their debris is
ThePennyJustDropped · 01/04/2022 17:58

Kitchen. But mainly because it's a big bright space and has a sofa as well as table & chairs so it's nice to hang out in. I have a separate utility so spending time in the kitchen isn't linked to laundry or ironing for me. But as with PP having young kids does mean there's a lot to keep me in the kitchen anyway with cooking, cleaning up, helping kids with homework etc.
