I have 2 dcs ages14 and almost 10. And I have no idea what either of there first words were i just cannot remember and from what I do remember it was just babble anyway. youngest dc asked me today what their first word was so i told him I didn't know, apparently all mums remember their babies first words and I'm a bad mum for not remembering!! 🤣Anyone else not remember their dcs first words.

Same I don’t remember either. Thought it was just me!

kitcat15 · 28/03/2022 21:07

Yes...my 30 year old...'ball'....my 27 year old 'look' ....my 23 year old 'bics' ( for biscuit).... apart from mama and dada which they all said but not with any real conviction

My kids are 3 and 6 and they ask me their first words most weeks (DC1 mummy, DC2 daddy)

I realised last week I have no idea what DDs first word was, she's 5.

Indiana2021 · 28/03/2022 21:11

Oh me too!! First words, when did they get a tooth etc etc. Not a clue Grin

SickAndTiredAgain · 28/03/2022 21:14

DD’s was fuck, because she was mispronouncing quack, so that’s easy to remember.
I don’t remember her first properly pronounced word, although I think it might have been duck.

CaMePlaitPas · 28/03/2022 21:15

I have two and I have no bloody idea. I'll just make something up, one can be Mum and one can be Dad !

JenniferWooley · 28/03/2022 21:15

DD1 was juice, DD2 was mummy no idea what DS's was we just tell him it was mummy Blush

IDontDrinkTea · 28/03/2022 21:17

Her first word was mama, second word was yes. Nice and easy to remember, as we had lots of fun asking her silly questions so she’d just say ‘yes!’ after

WeAllHaveWings · 28/03/2022 21:18

Ds(18)'s was shoe, then mum.

Hugasauras · 28/03/2022 21:22

DD was 'bubble' outside of the 'Dadada' sound that eventually became 'daddy'

MargaretThursday · 28/03/2022 21:23

I think mine all said "Mama" first.
Dead boring, but rather nice.

My first word was "duck".

Paddingtonsmarmlade · 28/03/2022 21:23

Ds was dada I think
Dd was ds name

Hugasauras · 28/03/2022 21:24

I actually have her first 30 or so words in a note in my phone Blush No idea why I did that! I'm not generally a PFB type Grin

Beachsidesunset · 28/03/2022 21:24

My eldest's was Nagini Grin

IncompleteSenten · 28/03/2022 21:29

No. And what's worse is they both had significant speech delays - my eldest was talking like a toddler at 7 and my youngest was exclusively echolalic so you'd think their first words would be something I'd remember but no.
I also don't remember how old they were when they first walked. I remember one was just before his first birthday and the other was just after but ive no clue which was which.

They are both in their 20s now. Fortunately neither of them give a shit when they walked or what their first words were. People with young kids - write this shit down. You may think now you'll always remember but there's no guarantee. I remember none of that milestone stuff.

Okki · 28/03/2022 21:30

We used to have a fish tank by the table, so DD's first word was was fshh followed by 'alloo. We took her to Sea Life Centre - she had a blast waving and shouting "allooo fshh". Mummy and Papa appeared at some point.

DS was 'Mama' I think.

They're bilingual and for both of them their first words in DH's language were swear words😂.

ComDummings · 28/03/2022 21:34

I don’t remember either of my dc’s first words either.

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 28/03/2022 21:36

Nanana (banana). He's always known where his priorities lie.

JurassicPerks · 28/03/2022 21:43

DS1: "More". Repeated frequently where food was available
DS2: no idea

reluctantbrit · 28/03/2022 21:46

I only remember it because it sounded very much like “beer” and she actually pointed to her water bottle. Hm.

It was very quickly replaced with wadda (water)

Minniem2020 · 28/03/2022 21:47

I only have them for DS as he was speech delayed so we kept track of them in a notebook. For months he only had mammy, daddy and apple

JamSandwich89 · 28/03/2022 21:49

I was talking to my Mum about this the other day. She doesn't have a clue what first words were for me or any of my siblings. I remember asking her about this when I was younger and being shocked she didn't know (because Mums know everything, of course) but now I'm older I totally get it. Your DC may forgive you one day! Grin

Twizbe · 28/03/2022 21:51

No idea on first words but my son's second word was Google.

Clockstooforward · 28/03/2022 21:53

If you want to remember any details about your baby/ toddler…write it down!! I swear you will have forgotten by school age !
I genuinely can only remember that one of my children said Tit as his first word instead of chips…we were in holiday in Majorca …that all I can remember about any of their milestones!
