It’s my 30th next month and lots of family and friends have been asking for ideas for gifts. On my list currently I have -
Bubble bath
Slightly more expensive slippers than I would usually buy
Wine glasses
Earrings

Any ideas? Preferably things that feel slightly luxurious but under £50

All of the above plus a lovely large candle, a picture frame and some beautiful but fake flowers / plants for my mantelpiece

TabithaTittlemouse · 18/03/2022 22:08

Facial oil
Nice plant in a nice pot

A particular perfume

Happy birthday

Ajay96 · 19/03/2022 06:28

Happy birthday when it comes. I'm always the same when thinking about gifts, but found the little unexpected surprises my mum gets me are the best. Usually new pjs, slippers, hot water bottle, sentimental jewellery or ornaments etc. Knowing she's picked them by herself means so much more to me, although some presents aren't always right for me lol Also this year I got a new duvet for my birthday, this was something I wanted for ages but hadn't got round to buying or even budgeted for. If I was going out to celebrate or having a party, I used to ask for things to help toward that, my nails, hair, outfit, alcohol etc, these always helped me save money and let me get more than I would normally get. If your not necessarily needing anything, how about money towards something bigger, a fancy watch, trip etc. I know it's too expensive but I got my little brother a helicopter ride for his graduation, and he loved it. Was one of those things he always saw and thought looked amazing but would never buy for himself. There's lots of different ideas on virgin experience days online. Xx

MrsDThomas · 19/03/2022 07:26

Do you need anything?

If not, tell them. Its wasteful otherwise.

TheGriffle · 19/03/2022 07:28

If it was me I’d want seaglass necklaces, money for clothes or a tattoo.

MakkaPakkas · 19/03/2022 07:31

Books
Comedy night tickets
Hotel Chocolat chocolates

Vampirethriller · 19/03/2022 07:31

A shed.

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/03/2022 07:41

A framed print - you will always have it

Classic earrings - same as above

A voucher for afternoon tea in a fancy place

2 theatre tickets if you have a reasonably priced local place

Perfume / bath oil / candle

Vouchers for books / clothes or whatever you are into

Vouchers for yoga classes / pottery day / spa day

Plant / wine glasses / coffee mugs / lamp / cushion for home - or a voucher towards a bigger thing you want

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/03/2022 07:43

@MrsDThomas

Unless the OP is very rich but failed to mention it, is it likely that at the age of 30 there aren’t things that she needs / would like to try / would be a nice treat? 🙄

2DogsOnMySofa · 19/03/2022 07:48

I'd like wander round my local antique shops and find a lovely vase for the flowers I'll get on my birthday

Whiskers4 · 19/03/2022 07:53

I'd want a nice candle, alcohol or even ask for vouchers for the same place so I could buy something more expensive.

If a friend was asking and they're likely to spend £10-20, I'd ask them to treat me to coffee/cake or a drink with them as I'd rather have time with them.

ImInStealthMode · 19/03/2022 07:57

@Luredbyapomegranate But if there were things the OP wanted / needed she wouldn't be asking us surely?

I agree, if there's nothing you actually need or want then scrabbling for ideas is a bit pointless and wasteful.

I'd ask for vouchers for a specific shop or restaurant or hotel you like that you can add together and use later on for a treat.

Taytocrisps · 19/03/2022 08:12

I would love the following:-

Books
Plants/containers/garden features
A voucher for my favourite home decor store - or maybe go for lunch and then they could come shopping with me and I'd pick out something in their price range.
Tickets for a musical (expensive but less so if a few people put their money together)

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/03/2022 08:15

She’s not scrabbling for ideas for Christ’s sake - 30 is a significant birthday - she’s having a nice time curating a list and wondering if there’s anything she’s missed.

Much like kids do at Christmas. It’s an enjoyable thing to do. Life is to be enjoyed, etc.

thebabessavedme · 19/03/2022 09:33

The thing that stands out on here is that most of these wishes are pretty modest, no one asking for world trips or fast cars etc, just small things that bring happiness, thats nice.

I am 60 this year and dh has asked me to choose a bag I would like, I'm very lucky we have the funds to do this but honestly, I may choose something much more inexpensive, so long as we have have a nice day with the family I don't really care what I have.

KupoNutCoffee · 19/03/2022 10:03

I actually had ideas for my own this year! Normally when asked I never know.
A nice set of cake tins - for cake transport. Or if you don't have any - nice cake tins for baking the cakes themselves.
A set or one nice big mixing bowl. Like big ceramic Mason cash ones.

Other ideas:
A vase
A subscription - magazine for a year. Or a trial box of something
Something related to a hobby - one you do or one you want to try. I'd be happy with a hobby craft voucher.
Pandora charms if you have?

midsomermurderess · 19/03/2022 10:30

But more than £50. Cheaper on Etsy.

MrsDThomas · 19/03/2022 10:31

Well if OP is here she’s obviously struggling to think of anything she needs or wants. So there isn’t anything. Since when is 30 a significant age😂
